An ambitious female reporter finds herself unable to remain an objective, third party observer while covering the Palestinian-Israeli conflict in this made for television war drama starring Faye Dunaway. Upon arriving Israel on her first foreign assignment, American photojournalist Faye Milano is greeted by David (Amos Kollek), an Israeli reserve officer and writer is also the nephew of Jerusalem Mayor Kollek. Later, while conducting a series of interviews with actual political representatives on both sides of the issue, Faye discovers the identity of David's uncle and skillfully manipulates him into getting her an interview with the mayor. The resulting story, which runs with a photograph of an Israeli police officer clubbing a young Palestinian girl, raises the ire of authorities - who deplore the reporter's penchant sensationalizing the details and seldom bothering to confirm the facts. When Faye learns that a young Palestinian boy was recently shot after hurling a brick at an Israeli soldier, she travels to Jerusalem in order to meet with Mustafa (Mohammad Bakri), the dead boy's brother. As tensions begin to thicken and Mustafa is arrested, Faye snaps a candid shot of the boy being taken into custody. Faye's press credentials are subsequently revoked, however, when the arresting officer is discovered with his throat slashed and the authorities place the blame for the killing on her photograph, which clearly shows the arresting officer's face. After submitting a story about an injured Palestinian boy who had actually suffered from a household accident and not in the conflict as she read leaders to believe, the inexperienced reporter finds that she has unexpectedly gotten in far over her head. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide

Shell Shock is a title occasionally dusted off for low-budget war pictures. Since the name of the eponymous affliction was coined during World War 2 (they called shell shock "nostalgia" during the Civil War!), most of these films take place during that conflict. This 1989 film is no exception. Four GI's, cut off from their outfit, struggle to stay alive. In this romantic drama set during World War II, David (Tom Hanks) is an American pilot serving with the Royal Air Force. While recovering from an injury in Jerusalem, David meets Sarah (Christina Marsillach), whose best friend is engaged to David's squadron leader. David and Sarah become fast friends and soon find they've fallen in love. However, Sarah's family are Sephardic Jews who are not enthusiastic about her seeing an American, particularly one whose father is a Protestant minister. While David and Sarah want to see their romance through, her family is just as determined to stop it, to the point of barricading her inside her room. The innate morality of a ballet teacher is under attack in this message movie about the evils of a society that refuses to protect a potential victim because no violence has yet been committed against her. While this premise is worthy, director Raphael Rebibo's protagonists tend to be cardboard cut-outs, either very good or very bad. Ronit (Anath Atzmon), a divorced ballerina with a young son, witnesses a woman being raped. Outraged, she decides to testify against the rapist in court, but the accused man's brother, a gangster, begins to threaten her when she refuses to accept a bribe to not testify. He is careful never to leave any proof of his threats or his violence and succeeds in terrifying Ronit, who is under pressure from her ex-husband and current boyfriend to forget about testifying. Yaky Yosha's 1982 Israeli drama Kvish Lelo Motza (aka Dead End Street) observes the trials and travails of a young prostitute named Alice (Anat Atzmon) who is thrust into jail alongside her pimp and hustler boyfriend. In desperation, Alice devises a scheme to save both of them: she will take the steps necessary to free herself, then set about raising the money to save her beau. However, she fails to anticipate the arrival of a documentary crew comprised of husband and wife Yoram (Yehoram Gaon) and Miri (Gila Almagor), who insist on filming her as she undergoes rehabilitation; when Yoram begins to fall hard for Alice, it draws the ire and chagrin of Miri, who begins to seethe with jealousy. ~ Nathan Southern, All Movie Guide

Coming along as the third film in a trilogy that may have died here, Lemon Popsicle 3 is a reminiscence of teenage years that is based on short, disparate segments featuring nudity, some violence, "oldies" music, and teen sex. Boaz Davidson co-wrote and directed this nostalgic schoolboy romance, taking place in 1950s Tel Aviv. The story deals with three young men -- Bentzi (Jesse Katsur), Momo (Jonathan Sagalle), and Yuda'leh (Zachi Noy) -- who only have girls on their minds. The boys, searching for their first sexual experiences, encounter middle-aged nymphomaniacs and unclean hookers. Then things become more serious. Bentzi, shy and introspective, falls in love with a cute girl named Nili (Anat Atzmon), but Nili is in love with Momo. When Momo gets Nili pregnant and then dumps her, Bentzi agrees to stay in Tel Aviv during summer vacation to arrange an abortion. Bentzi confesses his love to Nili, but when summer vacation is over and Momo returns to school, Nili runs back to him. ~ Paul Brenner, All Movie Guide

Two guys and their gal-pal Ossi (Anath Azmon) who work for an insurance company decide to make a film using stolen equipment. They also decide to live together. Natti (Israeli pop star Gidi Gov) is so attractive to girls that if they can't get him into bed, they are perfectly content to be friends with someone who does.
