This is another standard pinku-eiga sex film from World Eiga and their contract director Toshio Okuwaki, who cranked them out like bland oatmeal cookies during the late '60s. Miki Hayashi, from the far more interesting Nihon Boko Ankokushi Bogyakuma, toplines this banal melodrama as an innocent girl who becomes a flowering woman after experiencing the sexual love of a man. The usual misogynistic gibberish masquerading as titillating exploitation follows, offering few memorable moments and even fewer thrills. Kaori Aihara co-stars. ~ Robert Firsching, Rovi

One of Toshio Okuwaki's final films for World Eiga was indicative of the path his career in softcore pinku-eiga would eventually take, but is nonetheless entertaining in its tale of a flaky privileged woman (Eiko Izumi) whose sexual kicks come from submitting to what she perceives as the brutish animalism of blue-collar workers. She takes up with a construction worker (Hiroshi Izumida) who doesn't exactly understand her -- and would probably be offended if he did -- but has fun tossing her around in bed. Toshiro Minami and Ranko Tsukasa co-star. ~ Robert Firsching, Rovi

A rebellious youth caught up in the student protests of the turbulent 1960s unintentionally kills a policeman before setting out on a violent and passionate crime spree in director Toshio Okuwaki's classic piece of Japanese erotica. Arrested for his crime, the young man is en route to jail when he breaks away from the authorities and stumbles across a beautiful but suicidal young woman on the beach. As the impulsive pair enter into a intense romance that frequently threatens to erupt into violence, it becomes increasingly obvious that their lives, however brief they may be, will now be forever changed. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

Toshio Okuwaki, who had showed some promise in his early films for World Eiga, fell into the cinematic gutter with his work for Nihon Cinema, of which this grungy softcore melodrama is a typical example. The familiar pinku-eiga plot concerns an innocent farm girl (Kaori Aihara) who comes to the big city to visit her worldly sister, only to fall prey to a vicious sex maniac (played by future gay icon Masayoshi Nogami, who was Japan's favorite movie rapist for nearly 20 years before coming out of the closet). The film co-stars Miki Hayashi, Honey Yoshikawa, and the ubiquitous Setsu Shimizu. ~ Robert Firsching, Rovi

Miki Hayashi (Akudama Junen) toplines this tacky softcore sex comedy from World Eiga contract director Toshio Okuwaki, who began a rapid decline after the previous year's entertaining Bed Dance and Climax. Hayashi plays Keiko, the young bride of a randy Lothario named Bunzoh (Joji Ohara), who can't even stay faithful to Keiko on their wedding night. All manner of supposed hilarity ensues, but none of it is particularly funny or engaging. ~ Robert Firsching, Rovi

Another entertaining softcore melodrama from World Eiga contract director Toshio Okuwaki, this gritty pinku-eiga roughie is reminiscent of a cheap Japanese film noir with extra skin, but maintains interest despite its seediness. Noriko Tatsumi (who was in Okuwaki's Climax the same year) plays a nightclub stripper whose loyalties are divided between her gangster boss and a detective who falls for Tatsumi while investigating her boss. Not a bad timekiller, with cult superstar Naomi Tani around to fill the slow spots. ~ Robert Firsching, Rovi

One of pinku-eiga director Toshio Okuwaki's more accomplished softcore films, this World Eiga release deals with the conflicted sexual mores of modern Japanese culture. Michiko Sakyo stars as a young wife with a checkered past as a promiscuous b-girl. When her husband (the ubiquitous Setsu Shimizu) learns of his wife's naughty background, he is honor-bound to spurn her. Of course, this prudish response leads Sakyo right into the arms of a former boyfriend. Like many later pinku-eiga, which had the husbands of rape victims shaming their "tainted" wives into suicide, Bed Dance provides an interesting look at a changing culture, along with the expected softcore thrills and an appearance by cult pinup queen Naomi Tani. ~ Robert Firsching, Rovi

Coming in the same year as Bed Dance and Onna No Aji, this softcore melodrama from World Eiga shows that their contract director Toshio Okuwaki at least had one good year before the demands of the studio system extinguished his talent. Kazuya Taguchi stars as Hideki, a struggling college student who is fiercely protective of his pretty sister (popular pinku-eiga starlet Noriko Tatsumi). A rich prospective suitor preys on Hideki's poverty and offers him a nice loan in exchange for his blessing. Hideki accepts and lets his sister get married, but when he realizes how much he has sold out for a little money, he flips out and kills, well, not the person one would expect, unless one had seen enough of these films to understand the peculiar sexual logic of Japanese exploitation. Setsu Shimizu and Kimiko Asuka co-star. ~ Robert Firsching, Rovi
