David Lee Hoffman is a man who has devoted his life to tea. Hoffman is an importer who brings unusual varieties of tea to discerning drinkers in the United States, specializing in teas that have been grown organically and picked and dried by hand by growers who use experience and instinct as their guides. However, the bulk of Hoffman's most prized teas are grown by independent farmers in China, where the growth of industrialization and an increased demand for higher-yield cash crops is helping to put such planters out of business. Filmmakers Les Blank and Gina Leibrecht offer an in-depth portrait of Hoffman and the growers he works with in the documentary All in This Tea, which demonstrates how handcrafted teas are produced and how Hoffman struggles to educate drinkers about the finer points of a beverage that few have experienced in its most sublime form. All in This Tea was screened in competition at the 2007 San Francisco International Film Festival. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

In this hourlong documentary, culled primarily from a 1991 interview with filmmaker Lech Kowalski, the late punk pioneer Dee Dee Ramone discusses his storied career - both as a musician and as an on-again, off-again drug addict. Taking its title from the Ramones anthem "Chinese Rocks," the film is mostly a one-person recollection, but includes many archival clips and concert footage. Director Kowalski previously profiled the late-'70s punk scene with his 1981 release D.O.A. ~ Michael Hastings, Rovi

Above all else, documentarian Lech Kowalski built his reputation on a desire and tendency to explore the gritty underbelly of urban life - a thematic preoccupation particularly evident via this film. In it, Kowalski zeros in on a group of homeless New Yorkers who frequent a local soup kitchen. When the municipality threatens to shut down the establishment - effectively putting an end to one of the subjects' main sources of food - they take up the cause and prepare to fight City Hall. ~ Nathan Southern, Rovi
