SPL collaborators Donnie Yen and Wilson Yip join forces once again for this high-energy adaptation of Wong Yuk-Ling's popular manga Dragon and Tiger Heroes. The Dragon Tiger Gate is a Hong Kong martial arts dojo co-founded by the descendents of Dragon (Yen) and Tiger (Nicholas Tse). Separated as children, Tiger fights for the cause of good and Dragon goes to work for fearsome drug smuggler Ma Kun (Chen Kuan-tai). As the action gets under way, Tiger gets into a scrap with Ma Kun's gang and ends up in possession of the Lousha Plaque - a sacred icon of immense value to the powerful criminals. Though Ma Kun and Dragon allow Tiger to abscond with the Lousha Plaque for the time being, Dragon soon sets out to recover the object as nunchaku-spinning warrior Turbo (Shawn Yue) makes his presence known. Jeffrey Lau's epic, mythological fantasy adventure A Chinese Tall Story unfurls in the distant past, when a small band of travelers - monk Tripitaka (Nicholas Tse) and his (human) companions Monkey King (Chen Bo-lin), Piggy (Kenny Kwan) and Sandy (Steven Cheung) - embark on a lengthy, danger-filled quest through the Himalayan foothills to retrieve some Buddhist scriptures. En route, they encounter all manner of obstacles, such as being sabotaged by The Tree Demon and attacked by a band of cannibalistic lizard men. In a more realistic episode, Tripitaka must grapple with the unrequited love that a homely outcast, Yue Meiyan (Charlene Choi) feels for him; he then ultimately winds up in the midst of an elfin storybook village where he encounters an empathetic waylaid princess (Fan Bingbing). Love and war conspire to create a romantic triangle in this lavish historical epic from director Chen Kaige. A young girl who has lost her parents to the violence of war bravely refuses to obey the orders of a warrior's son, and is approached by a spirit who offers her a life of wealth and power as a reward, but with a catch -- she will never know the love of a man unless she learns how to bring the dead back to life by turning back time. During a long and bloody battle, Kunlun (Jang Dong-gun), a slave who has been ordered to fight, proves his skill and bravery in combat, and his commander, General Guangming (Hiroyuki Sanada), rewards him by making him his personal assistant. When Guangming learns that the King is in danger, he and Kunlun set out to rescue him. Kunlun is disguised as Guangming as they prepare to fight the enemy leader Wuhuan (Nicholas Tse), who is out to assassinate the King, but when they arrive, they find that the strong-willed Qingcheng is in greater danger than the potentate as her father and his soldiers struggle to verbally and physically cut her down to size. Kunlun and Guangming impulsively rescue Qingcheng instead of the King, and as they look for a safe haven for the princess, both men fall in love with her, while both the King's forces and Wuhuan are determined to find them. As Goddess of Mercy begins, Yang Rui (Liu Yunlong) is a callow womanizer in Beijing. He's always looking for action, which eventually leads him to An Xin (Vicki Zhao), who works at the local tae kwon do school. The more she spurns him, the more adamant he becomes. One rainy night, he goes too far, grabbing for her as she tries to enter her home, and she delivers a roundhouse kick to his head. He wakes up in her apartment, and apologizes to her. An Xin won't talk about her past. They begin a fragile courtship. He learns that she has a young son. A jealous ex gets wind of his new relationship, and arranges to have him brought up on embezzlement charges. An Xin helps him get out of jail, but then runs run off, leaving a long note. The film flashes back to An Xin's past as a gung-ho policewoman engaged to a journalist, Tienjun (Chen Jianbin). Assigned to a dangerous and remote district, she was forced to spend months away from him. Eventually, she met a brash young man, Mao Jie (Hong Kong heartthrob Nicholas Tse), and the two had a brief affair. Later, on a drug sting, she found out that Mao was a criminal. She took part in a deadly raid to bring down his family. An Xin reunited with Tienjun and they were married, after which she found out she was pregnant. Mao was released from prison and took vengeance. An Xin has left town because she believes that she's a destructive force, but Yang sets out to find her. Patrick Leung's Wanpak Mchai (Demi-Haunted) is a supernatural drama set in the world of opera. Buster (Eason Chan) is an opera performer who is haunted by a female singer from the '30s named Giselle (Joey Yung) who died an unfortunate death. Giselle convinces Buster to stage a performance of the opera that contains the song she was singing when she died. In the meantime, she helps him get closer to Chole (Katy Yeung), the daughter of a local crime boss. When rich high school student Edward (Stephen Fung) is accidentally enrolled in the seemy TBS College rather than the prestigious institution he was supposed to attend, he is quickly thrown into a world where people settle their many differences with their fists. Edward immediately finds himself at odds with one of the roughest crowds in school, though he does manage to find an ally in Stone Nicholas Tse), known as the undisputed King of Fighters. The only problem is that Stone hasn't fought in six months, and is facing a challenge from rival Mantis (Samuel Pang). Though Stone himself doesn't agree to fight Mantis, he does take on Edward as an apprentice. Throughout everything that's going on, Edward becomes increasingly attracted to fellow student Fung (Joey Yung).

Lian' Ai Qiyi (Heroes in Love) is a collection of three short films about young love in Hong Kong. All were helmed by first-time directors, who happen to be from Hong Kong themselves. The first short is Kidnap by well-known graphic artist Shya Wing. It is the story of Joe a shy lesbian who falls madly in love a strange woman. In fact, Joe's attraction is so strong that she decides to kidnap the woman and hold her a prisoner at her flat. An inexperienced kidnapper, Joe muddles her way through her first days as jailor, slowly but surely winning her captive's heart. My Beloved is the second short, by two performers, Stephen Fung and Nicholas Tse. A deranged pizza boy named Robin is the main character here, and the story starts on the day he purchases a new handgun called the "Ejaculator". Robin so loves his new weapon that he eats, sleeps, and drinks with it, until finally the gun begins talking to him like a lover. Peppered with references to Taxi Driver, the tale spirals towards a finale in which the gun provokes Robin to prove his love through violence. Og, G! is the third short, by a popular disc jockey known as GC Goo-bi. Two teenagers, Charlene and Lawrence, meet on the Internet. The two get along well despite their mis-matched personalities, Lawrence being an immature slob, and Charlene a dreamer seeking an idealized romantic love. But their platonic relationship blossoms into something more once they decide to meet in the flesh. TBC is an epilogue by producer Jan Lamb which contains interviews with the four directors and outtakes from the shorts. The entire film was the brainchild of Lamb's Emperor Multimedia Group and collaborator PCC Skyhorse Ltd. which joined forced to bring new Hong Kong talents into the spotlight. ~ Connor McMadden, All Movie Guide

A romantic triangle turns fantasy into reality in this comedy from Hong Kong. Fung Yip (Julian Cheung) and Mo Wan (Eason Chan) are a pair of young cartoonists who have been hired by a comic book publisher to help write and draw a new superhero comic. Both Fung Yip and Mo Wan become seriously infatuated with Mandy (Ruby Lin), a beautiful girl who works in the office, and as the friends become rivals for her affections, their characters become increasingly contentious; in time, the superheroes they've created come to life and begin settling their differences using their fighting skills. A romance split -- appropriately enough -- into 12 sections, Aubrey Lam's 12 Ye examines the vicissitudes of the relationship between Jeannie (Cecilia Cheung), a flight attendant, and Alan (Eason Chan), a materialistic business man. Two men who have a great deal in common become friends, only to find themselves turned into enemies in this slam-bang action fest from Hong Kong. Tyler (Nicholas Tse) is a man trying to make a career in a rough section of Hong Kong. One night, after several drinks too many, he hooks up with Ah Jo (Cathy Chui), an off-duty undercover cop who has also had a bit more alcohol than usual. Tyler and Ah Jo spend the night together, even though she usually prefers the company of women, and Ah Jo soon finds she's pregnant. Ah Jo has no desire to remain involved with Tyler, but he wants to do the right thing, so he takes a job as a bodyguard for low-level gangster Uncle Ji (Anthony Wong) and sends her his money, all the while wishing he could be in Brazil. Meanwhile Jack (Wu Bai), who once lived in Brazil, is back in Hong Kong with his very pregnant wife Ah Hui (Candy Lo), the daughter of a triad kingpin targeted by Brazilian gangsters. Uncle Ji is in charge of protecting the triad leader, and he makes Tyler one of his right-hand men. Tyler and Jack get to know one another and become close friends, but their friendship comes to an end when the Brazilian mob makes Jack an offer he can't refuse, putting the two men on opposite sides of a gangland war. Seunlau Ngaklau was directed by Tsui Hark, who returned to Hong Kong filmmaking after a brief sojourn in Hollywood. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

Young upstart cops are thrown into a maelstrom of danger in this Hong Kong-lensed action thriller. Ten tons of powerful explosives, recently recovered from smugglers, have been stolen by a Japanese terrorist group, led by criminal mastermind Akatura, and the Hong Kong police have to act quickly before the explosives fall into the wrong hands or are used against the wrong people. Chan (Eric Tsang), a effective but non-conformist police detective, decides to use cops that no one will suspect are cops; he pulls three promising but unlikely-looking students from the Police Academy and gives them a crash course on tracking terrorists. Jack (Nicholas Tse), Alien (Sam Lee), and Match (Stephen Fung) are soon sent out to infiltrate the operations of Akatura's right-hand man Daniel (Daniel Wu); along the way, they join forces with Y2K (Grace Yip), a female crime fighter with a talent for electronics. But the young cops soon discover that busting an international terrorist network is no piece of cake; their initial plan goes haywire, and they learn that Akatura plans to use his new-found firepower against the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center. Boasting a high level of visual polish, Gen-X Cops features visual effects from Joe Viskocil and Sam Nicholson, who have worked on such blockbusters as Independence Day, Apollo 13, Terminator 2: Judgment Day, and Star Trek: The Motion Picture. Riley Ip directs his melodrama about a man haunted by his memories. Ailing from Alzheimer's disease, Roy (Eric Tsang) returns to Hong Kong after 30 years in Brazil to track down his former enemy, Nine Dragons. Claiming that he was previously a notorious gangster called Mountain Leopard, he enlists the help of young street tough Smokey (Nicholas Tse). Roy tells Smokey that back in the 1970s, he and his arch-nemesis were rivals for the attention of an enigmatic beauty (Shu Qi). When she seemed to favor Roy, Nine Dragons shot him and ditched him on a barge for Brazil. Yet as the hunt continues, Smokey learns that the truth is a bit different. In this action-packed comedy from Hong Kong, Mr. Wong is a notorious con man who has bilked hundred of people out of their savings over the course of a long career, but no one has been able to put him behind bars. Pauline Wu (Joey Yung) is a woman with a personal grudge against Wong, since he took her father for a large sum of money many years ago; determined to get revenge, she teams up with another con artist, Ferrari (Nicholas Tse), who has reasons of his own for wanting to get even with Wong. However, while Ferrari would like to pull one over on the master, he's also trying to stay one step ahead of an inept police detective (Karl Maka) who is hot on his trail. Ferrari and Pauline enlist the services of strong-arm man Sze (So Yau-Pang), and together they plot a major scam that will nail both Wong and his daughter. But is it possible Wong could be turning the tables on them?
