TV personality and former Miss South Carolina Nancy O'Dell got a degree in marketing from Clemson University in 1990 before pursuing a career in television. She began with small appearances on various series before snagging a gig as a main presenter on the entertainment news show Access Hollywood in 1998. The directorial debut from Jason Reitman, the media satire Thank You for Smoking stars Aaron Eckhart as Nick, a man who has turned spinning news and information into a successful career for the tobacco lobby. He plots strategies with his colleagues (Maria Bello and David Koechner) on how to make other dangerous products more appealing to the American public. Nick ends up going to Hollywood with his young son (Cameron Bright) in order to get a movie producer to include characters smoking in his newest film. Nick is kidnapped by a vigilante group concerned about the harmful nature of his product. The cast includes William H. Macy as a Senator who runs on a strong anti-tobacco position, Rob Lowe as the Hollywood bigwig, and Robert Duvall as the king of the tobacco industry. In the concluding half of Charmed's fifth-season opener, Phoebe (Alyssa Milano) has elected to remain in the form of a mermaid -- partly because she wishes to escape her marriage to ex-demon Cole (Julian McMahon), partly because, well, she likes being a mermaid. Although she has vanquished the infamous Sea Hag, Phoebe is still in danger, courtesy of the Hag's demon ally Necron (Judson Scott). As Paige (Rose McGowan) and Leo (Brian Krause) encounter enormous obstacles in their efforts to persuade Phoebe to return to her human self, Piper (Holly Marie Combs) attempts to overcome her crippling panic attacks by casting a "fearless" spell -- which, alas, backfires horribly. ~ All Movie Guide

College soccer star David Morales (Mario Lopez) loses his scholarship and is compelled to take a job as a courier for an experimental medical laboratory operated by shady Dr. Darabont (John Saxon). The money is terrific and the border crossings from California into Mexico are easy for the charming Latino. But events turn desperate when David is forced to make a hasty delivery of a small cooler that contains something needed by the evil Franco (Richard Lynch), who is being kept alive in a Mexican hospice by the renegade physician Dr. Drake (Nancy O'Dell). If David fails, his mother (Dyana Ortelli) dies. But then the FBI gets wind of the delivery. Now on the run from the Feds, with his mother held hostage by a sex maniac, David teams up with runaway rich girl, Bella (Ali Landry), to get the cooler and its contents to Dr. Drake to keep a villain alive. ~ Buzz McClain, All Movie Guide

Wes Craven's Scream (1996) was a half-parody/half-tribute to the first wave of slasher films of the 1970s and 1980s, and since most of them spawned a large number of sequels, it's only appropriate that Craven and screenwriter Kevin Williamson produced a third installment of their Scream franchise. Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell), traumatized by the brutal murders of her friends, has left her hometown of Woodsboro and is working in California as a crisis intervention counselor. Meanwhile, "Stab," the novel by Gale Weathers (Courtney Cox Arquette), is spawning a series of successful horror films, and as Stab 3: Return to Woodsboro is being filmed in Los Angeles, a lunatic has gotten his hands on a copy of the script, and is murdering the characters in the same order that they die in the movie. But predicting who will die next is not as simple as it might seem, since the producers have circulated three different screenplays, with different endings. In addition to Campbell and Cox-Arquette, David Arquette returns from the first two films as less-than-bright "Dewey" Riley; new members of the cast include Parker Posey, Patrick Dempsey, Scott Foley, and Jenny McCarthy. In a perverse spin on the classic comedy film Groundhog Day, the Halliwell girls have been cursed to relive the same day over and over again. It's all the handiwork of a sorcerer appropriately named Tempus (David Carradine), who has cast this spell for an extremely deadly purpose. At first unaware that time is repeating itself, the sisters eventually catch on -- but it might already be too late to thwart the villain, and to prevent a chilling vision experienced by Phoebe (Alyssa Milano).
