The setting for this nail-biting thriller is a snowbound rural airport. A group of outer-space aliens, disguised as human, take over the airport, in preparation of conquering the earth. The fate of mankind ultimately rests in the hands of two others trapped in the terminal: a fiercely combative female pilot named Cathy Garrett (Chase Masterson), and convicted murderer Jack (Bruce Campbell). The only problem is, with the aliens totally camouflaged as earthlings, no one can tell the good guys from the bad. William Shakespeare's streak as the hottest storyteller in Hollywood continues with this modern-dress variation on Romeo and Juliet. In this loose adaptation, Hang Sing (Jet Li) is a former police officer from Hong Kong who comes to the United States following the death of his brother, the leader of an Asian crime ring. Hang Sing discovers that his brother had become involved in a turf battle with an African-American gang, led by Isaak (Delroy Lindo). But his blood lust begins to subside when he falls in love with Isaak's daughter Trish (Aaliyah) and finds himself torn between his affection for her and his desire for justice against the men who killed his brother. A lawyer is involved in a criminal proceeding he can't argue his way out of in this action-packed drama. Robert Woodfield (Eric Roberts) is a lawyer who grew up walking a tightrope between both sides of the law; after the death of his parents, he was raised by Charlie Mason (Dean Stockwell), a union representative who wants to do the right thing for his men, but who also has one foot in organized crime. Woodfield finds himself defending Martin Ritter (Hannes Jaenicke), who has been accused of murder, and even though Ritter is guilty, Woodfield is not only able to bring in an innocent verdict, but is able to persuade a judge to issue a restraining order that would prevent police from harassing him. But soon Woodfield discovers that he's succeeded too well in court; he witnesses Ritter committing another murder, finding himself caught up in a dizzying and dangerous web of blackmail, deception, and corruption. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide
