Canadian filmmaker Alan Zweig, himself an admitted curmudgeon, devotes this talking-head documentary primarily to interviews with other curmudgeons with a similar sensibility. The movie consists largely of talking-head interviews with a variety of men and women, spanning several generations, who have the sourly cynical, intellectual view of the world that qualifies them as fellow curmudgeons. Some of the interviewees are renowned in various fields (author Fran Lebowitz, autobiographical comic strip creator Harvey Pekar, indie rock musician Mark Eitzel, media commentator Andrew Rooney); others are far less familiar to the general public. The interviews are largely devoted to humorous, at times philosophical, discussions (with plenty of illustrative anecdotes) about the curmudgeonly attitudes the subjects bring to their worlds, taking in jaded observations of popular culture, social institutions, and humanity as a whole. ~ Richie Unterberger, All Movie Guide

The title character in this WB Network sitcom was Matt Stewart, played by Full House graduate Bob Saget. A widower, Matt used wisecracks and wry comments to shoulder the responsibilities inherent in raising his two daughters, Sarah (Kat Dennings) and Emily (Brie Larson). Sound familiar? But here's the clincher: Daddy Matt was an English teacher -- in the same high school attended by Sarah and virtually all of her would-be boyfriends. Dispensing the usual sage grandfatherly advice was Matt's own live-in dad, Sam Stewart (Jerry Adler). In this mock documentary, a filmmaker who has received a grant to make a feature about fatally ill homeless people decides at the last minute to instead turn his camera on Susan (Sarah Silverman), a stand-up comic who has decided to make the big move from New York to Los Angeles in hopes of breaking into television. However, she waits until the last minute to tell her boyfriend Max (Sam Seder) about this little change in her life. Max is surprised, but decides to tag along in an attempt to be supportive, even though once they get to California he finds they won't be living together as he expected. Susan dives into the Hollywood audition circuit head first, while Max stays with his friend Earl (David Waterman), who has a deal for a TV pilot, and gripes cynically about how superficial Hollywood can be. But while Susan finds she can't get a part to save her life, Max is suddenly the toast of the Hollywood hipster set, and suddenly everyone in town wants to offer him a deal for a pilot. Who's The Caboose? features a number of noted stand-up comics and TV personalities in supporting roles, including Andy Dick, Kathy Griffin and David Waterman; the film was screened as part of the 1999 San Francisco Jewish Film Festival. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

Cameras follow the photographers, crew and models around the world and capture the backstage jokes, bloopers and intimate conversations that took place while shooting. Models Heidi Klum, Laetitia Casta and Rebecca Romjin also discuss the stress of being on set and life as a supermodel. Ever since Paula (Janeane Garofalo) began dating Larry's (Garry Shandling) agent, Stevie (Bob Odenkirk), the conflicted host can't help but feel that Stevie is using the relationship to his advantage by having an increasing number of his own clients on the show. When Paula needs to find a guest and Stevie offers Jennifer Aniston with the stipulation that Paula will book Andy Kindler as well, Larry's suspicions seem to be confirmed. Meanwhile, an ethnic joke on the show has sparked protests and Hank (Jeffrey Tambor) attempts to weasel out of paying back a 20-dollar loan. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide
