In this comedy, Yon (Jorge de Juan) is one of four college students, friends, who are not above using extraordinary means to pass their exams. For instance, not long ago one of them pretended to have a head wound so that he could conceal a radio transmitter in the bandages and give his pals a detailed preview of the exam he was taking. So it's only natural that such hardworking boys would be upset when one of their number learns that he has flunked his final exams. Yon's response was to write a very strongly worded anonymous letter of protest to his professor and post it in a bright yellow mailbox. Afterwards, he realizes with panic that he has inadvertently included the letter from the school informing him of his results in the exam, giving his identity away. Enlisting the help of his friends, they steal the offending mailbox in order to recover the letter. Unfortunately, their girlfriends aren't in on the game, and don't understand what they're up to, posing several delicious obstacles to a quick resolution of Yon's difficulties. It also doesn't help that a drug dealer has been using that same mailbox for drop shipments, and has been keeping an eye on it. When he sees the boys steal it, he doesn't immediately assume that anything good is happening. ~ Clarke Fountain, All Movie Guide

Sometimes people know so thoroughly what they meant to say that they lose all objectivity about whether they have actually communicated what they intended to. Reviewers suspected that this might be the case with this film. Three separate but (possibly) related situations take place in it. In the first, Daniel (Jorge de Juan) arrives in town carrying a briefcase which he is meant to deliver to someone. He is prevented from doing so by a police raid. In the second situation, Daniel follows Maria (Iciar Bollain) around, attempting to charm her. Despite her protests, she does succumb to his blandishments. Finally, Maria is working for a greenhouse which uses potentially dangerous chemicals to preserve the fruit it ships out. She and her boss connive to sabotage the operation and spare the workers from further exposure to the chemicals. ~ Clarke Fountain, All Movie Guide

In this standard tale of crime and deception, an innocent postman (Antonio Resines) is duped into carrying drugs into the country (Spain) by a woman who takes advantage of him in more ways than one. She is, in a sense, a "Mate Hari," a woman who drinks so much of the popular Argentine beverage mate, that she is nicknamed the "queen" of that drink. Her cohorts also take advantage of the poor postman -- he is variously cajoled and threatened and robbed of some of his own profits. Long-standing cliches of Latinos as seen from the viewpoint of Spaniards make these low-life South Americans thickly accented and prone to break out in a tango at the slightest provocation -- though they are supposed to be from Argentina after all. The inevitable accounting eventually comes, as might be expected.
