Daniel Cosgrove Movies

Connecticut native Daniel Cosgrove showed a propensity for soap operas when he began his acting career in 1996, with a prominent role on the long-running soap All My Children. Being cast in the series meant relocating to New York, but two years later he made an even bigger move when he headed to L.A. for a part in another drama, this time a night-time soap: Beverly Hills 90210. He stayed with the show for two years before moving on to pursue a variety of film roles, including the villainous Richard Bagg in National Lampoon's Van Wilder, but soon Cosgrove went back to his roots with a role on another popular daytime soap, Guiding Light. He played Harlan Billy Lewis III on the series from 2002 to 2007, when he left the show for the ABC prime-time drama Dirty Sexy Money, playing the recurring role of Freddy Mason, pro-golfer and financé of divorcée Karen Darling (Natalie Zea). ~ Cammila Collar, Rovi

Debuting January 1, 2006 on ABC, the hour-long crime drama In Justice was clearly inspired by recent instances wherein a number of innocent people sentence to death or life imprisonment had been freed with the help of concerned legal advocacy groups and new DNA evidence. Starring in this series was Kyle MacLachlan as David Swayne, a $650-dollar-per-hour corporate attorney who turned his back on his lucrative practice to create the National Justice Project, funded with $5 million of his own money. Swayne's mission in life was to re-examine old jury verdicts and reopen closed cases in order to give those whom he felt to be wrongly imprisoned a chance for freedom. Swayne and his team of investigators uncovered fresh evidence, persuaded the authorities to re-examine their original conclusions, and in some case actually tracked down the actual perpetrators of the crime at hand. Heading Swayne's team was former cop Charles Conti (Jason O'Mara), who was willing to tolerate the lawyer's many idiosyncracies in the case of justice. Conti's associate investigators included Sonya Quintano (Marisol Nichols), whose own brother had been sprung from prison as a result of the National Justice Project; Jon Lemonick (Daniel Cosgrove, the firm's resident know-it-all; and Brianna (Constance Zimmer), the youngest member of the group. In Justice was created by Michelle King and Robert King. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

The "National Lampoon" franchise is resurrected for another politically incorrect collegiate romp with this R-rated gross-out sex comedy. National Lampoon's Van Wilder revolves around the exploits of its title character (Ryan Reynolds), a seventh-year senior who's made it his goal in life to help each and every Coolidge College undergrad succeed in life -- or at least in bed. Van's charmed life seems to have an expiration date, however; his father (Tim Matheson) has cut off his presumably vast allowance. Financial insecurity doesn't phase the big man on campus, and he soon starts up a lucrative cottage industry as a planner of high-priced campus blowouts. When an enterprising reporter from the college paper gets wind of Van's liberal interpretation of the school's code of conduct, it seems his gig is up -- unless, of course, he can charm the hard-edged Gwen (Tara Reid) into accepting his uniquely skewed world view. In addition to Matheson, Van Wilder features cameos from a number of '80s teen movie stalwarts, including Edie McClurg, Paul Gleason, and Erik Estrada. ~ Michael Hastings, Rovi

After a fiery wreck involving half the city and a runaway bus, the coroner (Ken Lerner) discovers that the bus driver's body has no internal organs, which is eerily similar to the body of a dead computer geek they also recently discovered. Former Special Forces dude Ted Gage Daniel Cosgrove, the brother of the computer hacker, begins an investigation with the lovely, skeptical detective Gina O'Bannon Tamara Davies. What they find is that a bizarre cult headed by Tiny Frakes (Mickey Rourke) is responsible for unleashing a mutant horde of cockroaches on the city. No amount of bug spray, or bad press, will stop these critters. ~ Buzz McClain, Rovi

The novel of the same name by author Tom Savage becomes this horror film starring Marley Shelton as Kate Davies. Kate's in a troubled relationship with journalist Adam Carr (David Boreanaz), a problem drinker, but she receives support from her best friends, the same four girls she's known since grade school: Paige Prescott (Denise Richards), Dorothy Wheeler (Jessica Capshaw), Lily Voight (Jessica Cauffel), and Shelly Fisher (Katherine Heigl). When Shelly is murdered and the other girls begin receiving gruesome Valentine's Day cards signed "JM," they begin to speculate that the killer could be an awkward schoolmate named Jeremy Melton, whom they once teased mercilessly at a school dance, leading to his beating and humiliation. Dorothy in particular is afraid that a false accusation she made against Jeremy might be causing him to seek bloody retribution, but the macho detective (Fulvio Cecere) assigned to investigate Shelly's murder has some other suspects in mind. As the body count is racked up and Dorothy's lavish Valentine's Day party approaches, Kate begins to suspect that the true identity of Jeremy, who likely underwent plastic surgery to alter his appearance, could hit very close to home. Valentine is the second slasher flick from Urban Legend (1998) director Jamie Blanks. ~ Karl Williams, Rovi
