Hard Candy director David Slade took the helm for this adaptation of Steve Niles' terrifying comic-book series of the same name. In Barrow, AK, one night can last an eternity. One month every year, this town is plunged into darkness for 30 days due to its location far north of the Arctic Circle. While extended periods of darkness are something that the locals have become accustomed to, this year something sinister is about to emerge from the long and unforgiving night. As a maniacal horde of vampires assumes control of the city streets and begins to feast freely upon the terrified citizens, the local sheriff (Josh Hartnett), his wife (Melissa George), and a small but resilient band of survivors will be forced to choose between saving themselves or helping the few remaining members of their community survive the blood-soaked siege. Original comic creator Niles collaborated with screenwriters Stuart Beattie and Brian Nelson to pen the film, which was produced under Sam Raimi's Ghost House Pictures banner. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide

A luxury liner has capsized in the middle of the ocean, and it's up to the few remaining survivors to navigate through the treacherous, upside-down maze of terror and make their way to safety in the made-for-television remake of the 1972 disaster film. A terrorist has boarded the luxury liner Poseidon during a lavish New Year's Eve celebration, and when the blast of his bomb causes the immense ship to capsize, the struggle to make it out alive turns into a waterlogged nightmare as the ship slowly continues to take in water. But sinking isn't the only thing the survivors have to worry about, because within their midst the diabolical terrorist is waiting for just the right moment to finish the job he started when he planted the bomb. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide
Her powers as Goddess of Love bollixed up by her own romantic misadventures, Aphrodite (Alexandra Tydings) accidentally places a group of Amazons under a spell, rendering them subservient to men (they even lower themselves to dancing and waiting on tables at a cheap tavern). Deimos (Joel Tobeck), the god of terror, takes advantage of this situation as part of his plan to reassemble the powerful Chronus Stone. As an added flip, Deimos also intends to use the enslaved Amazons to destroy his perennial enemies, Hercules (Kevin Sorbo) and Iolaus (Michael Hurst). ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

A woman who turns to a psychic to find out what happened to her daughter discovers more than she expected when she's reunited with her estranged husband. Bunnie (Danielle Cormack) was a member of New Zealand's hippie counterculture in the late 1960s and early 1970s, and in 1971 she went blind after staring into the sun during an eclipse while under the influence of drugs. One of the last things she saw before her eyes gave out was a soldier named Geoff (Kevin Smith), soon to ship out for Vietnam. When Geoff returns home wounded, he ends up in the same hospital as Bunnie; they fall in love and eventually marry. They have a daughter, but Geoff's stability and Bunnie's free-spirited nature prove a poor match, and one day Geoff leaves her, taking the child with him. Bunnie is soon convinced that both Geoff and the baby have died, and she sinks into a sea of sorrow and regret. After two decades, Bunnie encounters Cassandra (Amber Sainsbury), who claims to have psychic powers to put her in touch with her child. Her abilities as a medium notwithstanding, Cassandra and her brother Tony (Joel Tobeck) are able to track down Geoff, and they invite him to a seance, where a variety of stories emerge about what could have happened to Bunnie's child. Leading actress Danielle Cormack is a popular favorite in her native New Zealand, thanks to her role on the television series Xena. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide
