Lee Majors, Alison Eastwood, and Derek Hamilton star in writer/director Joey Travolta's supernatural story of a murdered father who returns from the afterlife in order to save his son from meeting a similarly grim demise. Sixty year old family man Bucko Cassidy (Lee Majors) has just been murdered for refusing to sell his homestead, and now it's looking as if his son Junior (Hamilton) is next on the list to die. Upon returning to Earth in spirit form to help his son, Bucko discovers that not only has Junior incurred the wrath of soma particularly dangerous men, but that his marriage to Ellie Rachel Wilson) is in dire straits as well. Should the marriage collapse, Junior will be forced to sell both his house and the family junkyard in order to satisfy the divorce settlement. It's only been six months since Junior buried Bucko, and lately the weight of the loss combined with the stress of his failing marriage is taking a heavy toll on him. Thankfully, despite the fact that there's some serious paperwork to be filled out before Bucko can truly return to Earth, he's been granted permission to temporarily come back in spirit form. But Junior is the only person who can see or hear Bucko, and now his friends and family are convinced that he's finally lost his marbles. This teen psychological thriller marks the feature film debut of respected television producer and director Daniel Sackheim. Leelee Sobieski stars as Ruby Baker, a high school student who is devastated when her parents Grace and Dave (Rita Wilson and Michael O'Keefe) are killed in a tragic car accident. With her younger brother Rhett (Trevor Morgan), Ruby is sent to live with the legal guardians chosen by her parents, their best friends Terry (Stellan Skarsgård) and Erin Glass (Diane Lane). The Glasses live in an opulent Malibu mansion where Ruby and Rhett are promised all of the finest luxuries money can buy and a lavish new rich-kid lifestyle. Before long, however, Ruby begins to suspect that her new caretakers are not what they appear on the surface and that the couple's financial woes may force them to harm her or Rhett in order to cash in on their sizable life insurance policies. Tom Selleck stretches his dramatic range by playing a liberal Democrat in this comedy-drama satirizing the underside of party politics. Governor James Pryce (Tom Selleck) is a well-respected politician with a strong reformist streak who is a shoo-in for the Democratic Party's presidential nomination, thanks to a well-run primary campaign organized by his manager Lauren Hartman (Laura Linney), and the savvy speechmaking and moral support of his wife Jenny (Nancy Travis). Now Pryce has to pick a vice-presidential candidate, which proves to be not all that simple. Senator Parker Gable (Robert Culp) helped give Pryce his start in politics, and his wife Meg (Faye Dunaway), a Queen Bee on the Washington social scene, has asked Pryce to consider Gable as VP. Pryce believes Gable would be the right man for the job, but he's well known to chase anything in a skirt, and Pryce thinks his nomination would be a scandal waiting to happen. Besides Gable, the two most likely choices for Pryce's running mate are Senator Mitchell Morris (Bruce McGill), whose strong links to a number of corporate benefactors make Pryce nervous, and Senator Terrence Randall (Bob Grunton), whose outspoken support of campaign finance reform does not sit well with Shawna Morgan (Teri Hatcher), the fundraising expert who has been filling Pryce's war chest.
