Monk (Tony Shalhoub) is consumed with guilt when Max Barton (Tim De Zarn), a man he'd sent to prison 14 years earlier on a robbery-murder charge, is released on the basis of new DNA evidence. Feeling responsible for Max's long incarceration, Monk tries to help him readjust to the outside world, and to be reunited with his ex-wife Sherry (Nancy Mette). Meanwhile, Max has a fatal confrontation with his former partner--and though Monk doesn't realize it until it is almost too late, it turns out that even modern crimesolving technology can sometimes lead one down the proverbial garden path. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

The Naked Cage offers a glimpse of the stark realities of prison life while at the same time acknowledging the issue of prison corruption. Young and naïve Michelle (Shari Shattuck) has just been thrown in the slammer for a bank heist she definitely did not commit. The inmates warn her about the warden (Angel Tompkins), whose lesbian lifestyle is forced on inmates of her choosing. No one has to warn Michelle about the guard who rapes and kills the inmates, or about the woman who framed her and is now also in jail. These three threats to Michelle's inherent virtue are nothing she can fight off alone, and so some new characters step into the picture to help tip the scales. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, All Movie Guide

A popular police officer is murdered, and the Brothers' leader (Ahmad Nurradin) wants to track down those responsible. The leader's 5-year-old brother (Anthony Wilson) is the only witness to the crime, thus the boys must keep the kid from becoming dead meat at the hands of the killers. Filmed on location with a largely nonprofessional cast, Together Brothers makes up in energy and conviction what it lacks in slickness. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

When Cleopatra travels to Turkey to oversee the destruction of poppy fields owned by Mommy (Shelley Winters) -- a lesbian drug dealer -- Mommy becomes upset.
