Oded Fehr Movies
The seeming embodiment of the old cliché "tall, dark, and handsome," Israeli-born actor Oded Fehr has the worldly handsome looks that perfectly suited him for his breakthrough role of mysterious desert warrior Ardeth Bay in the 1999 blockbuster The Mummy.Born to European parents in Tel Aviv in November of 1970, Fehr served a three-year tenure in the Israeli Navy before relocating to Frankfurt, Germany, to work in business with his father. Enrolling in a few minor acting classes as a fluke, Fehr would take a role in playwright David Mamet's Sexual Perversity in Chicago before later deciding to cement his thespian tendencies with a three-year stay at the Bristol Old Vic in London. Not surprisingly taking on such stage roles as Don Juan in Don Juan Comes Back From War, Fehr was a familiar face to U.K. television audiences with his roles in The Knock and Killer Net in 1998 before his breakthrough in Hollywood. Also turning up as a male gigolo in SNL alumni Rob Schneider's Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo the following year, Fehr would later appear in American television with Cleopatra (1999) and Arabian Nights following his success in The Mummy. Not surprisingly returning to his role in that film's 2001 sequel, The Mummy Returns, the multi-lingual actor would become a permanent fixture on the small screen when he joined the cast of U.C. Undercover in 2001. Proving that his sense of humor was as healthy as his good looks, Fehr joined fellow Mummy cast member Arnold Vosloo in spoofing the film and its sequel at the 2001 MTV Movie Awards. Fehr's other television work include appearances on the WB's supernatural fan-favorite Charmed, in which he played a demon known as Zankou, and as the character of Farik on the Showtime drama Sleeper Cell (2005 -- 2006). In 2008, Fehr appeared in first-time writer/director Nancy Kissam's family drama Drool, while 2010 found the actor with a several guest appearances on USA's Covert Affairs.

The relationship between an abused housewife and her new neighbor yields unexpected tragedy in his drama from first-time writer/director Nancy Kissam. Her kids can't stand her, her husband is a tyrant, and her family may live in the middle of nowhere, but Anora Fleece (Laura Harring) still does her best to make the most out of life. When Imogene Cochran (Jill Marie Jones) moves in next door, the two women become fast friends. Imogene sells cosmetics for Kathy K. Kosmetics, a company that caters exclusively to the cocoa-skinned woman. Despite the fact that such women aren't generally welcomed with open arms in Anora's neck of the woods, it isn't long before she and Imogene have found a common ground. And before long, their friendship develops into something more serious. But Anora's husband, Cheb (Oded Fehr), is exactly the kind of intolerant brute that has cemented their town's backward reputation, and when he discovers the truth about the two women, all hell breaks lose. In the chaos, Anora grabs a gun and accidentally shoots her husband dead. A young mother struggles to ensure a safe homecoming for her kidnapped son by helping her captors locate millions of dollars in stolen cash. Awakening in a dark room after being knocked unconscious in a car accident, Jamie Taylor (Melissa George) instantly realizes that her son is gone. She's been kidnapped, and so has he. But Jamie's captor (Oded Fehr) isn't interested in collecting a ransom; he needs her to help his mysterious employers recover a sizable sum that was stolen from them by her husband, who, unbeknownst to Jamie, is a very dangerous man. The heavies in charge believe that Jamie may be the only one capable of helping them locate their loot, but now that her life has been upended she isn't sure who or what to believe anymore. A man and his young daughter face almost impossible odds as they struggle to help an injured horse return to the racetrack in this family-friendly drama. Ben Crane (Kurt Russell) is a horse trainer whose career has gone into a bit of a slump, and after years as his own boss, he's signed on to work for Palmer (David Morse), a breeder whose wealth and success has given him a certain degree of arrogance. While Ben has learned to keep his mouth shut around his boss, he forgets himself when one of his favorite horses, Sonador, breaks its leg during an important race. Palmer insists that the horse should be put down on the spot, but Ben doesn't have the heart to kill the animal, especially since his young daughter, Cale (Dakota Fanning), is in the stands watching. Ben and Palmer have harsh words with one another, and Ben is fired, but is allowed to take Sonador with him when he leaves. Ben has a hard time convincing anyone that the injured horse has any potential, especially his father, Pop (Kris Kristofferson), a fellow trainer who rarely sees eye to eye with his son. But Cale loves the horse, and Ben believes that Sonador can make a comeback with the right care, and together with stable men Balon (Luis Guzman) and Manolin (Freddy Rodriguez), he sets out to put the filly on the road to recovery. As its subtitle suggests, Dreamer: Inspired by a True Story was based on the story of Mariah's Storm, a filly who broke a leg during a race in 1993, but a year later came back to win the Arlington Heights Oaks, and in 1995 won the Turfway Breeder's Cup. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

The title of the CBS doctor drama referred to the fictional Presidio Medical Group of San Francisco. Distinguishing this effort from all other forcep-and-scalpel weeklies was the fact that the staff of Presidio Med was virtually all-female, save for a brace of "token" handsome hunks. Still, in standard TV fashion, the doctors became emotionally (and sometimes intimately) involved in the welfare of their patients. The main characters included OB-GYN specialist Harriet Lanning (Blythe Danner), oncologist Rae Brennan (Dana Delany), cardiologist Letty Jordan (Anna Deavere Smith), plastic surgeon Jackie Collette (Sasha Alexander), pediatrician Jules Keating (Julianne Nicholson), and, from the male contingent, internist Matt Slingerland (Paul Blackthorne) and Greek-born surgeon Nicholas Kokoris (Oded Fehr). This big-budget sequel from writer/director Stephen Sommers navigates much of the same cliffhanger territory as George Lucas and Steven Spielberg's Indiana Jones franchise. It is 1933, eight years after the events of The Mummy (1999). Legionnaire Rick O'Connell Brendan Fraser has married his Egyptologist girlfriend Evelyn Carnahan (Rachel Weisz) and the couple has settled in London, where they're raising their young son Alex (Freddie Boath). The family's domestic tranquility is shattered when the 3,000-year-old mummified corpse of Imhotep (Arnold Vosloo), which has been shipped to the British Museum, is resurrected once again to resume his evil quest for immortality. In the meantime, another ancient threat emerges in the form of the Scorpion King (professional wrestler Dwayne Johnson, aka. the Rock), a mighty warrior frozen in time with his supernatural army. In order to save his family, Rick is forced to seek a mythical pyramid of gold, facing marauding bands of pygmy skeletons, among other hazards. One of several government-espionage series unveiled during the 2001-2002 TV season, UC: Undercover detailed the exploits of the Special Operations Group, an elite five-person team answerable only to the Justice Department. Using up-to-date technology and advanced martial arts skills, the Group was dedicated to tracking down and capturing supercriminals and terrorists (though several episodes dealing with the latter were toned down in the wake of the World Trade Center tragedy). Described by several observers as the Wiseguy of the early 21st century, the series found its regulars adopting all manner of disguises and new identities in order to infiltrate the illicit organizations which they'd targeted for extinction. Originally cast as group leader John Keller, Grant Show was replaced in the second episode by new leader Frank Donovan (Oded Fehr); other regulars included Jon Seda as Jake, Vera Farmiga as Alex, Bruklin Harris as Monica, and Jarrad Paul as Cody. The true story of the formation of the Texas Rangers provides the backdrop for this youth-oriented Western. In 1875, after the Civil War, Leander McNelly (Dylan McDermott) organizes the Texas Rangers to battle the outlaws terrorizing Texas, notably crime kingpin John King Fisher (Alfred Molina). With a team of experienced gunmen (Robert Patrick and Randy Travis) and enthusiastic but green recruits (James Van Der Beek, Usher Raymond, and Ashton Kutcher), McNelly and his Rangers bring law and order to the wild Texas plains; McNelly must also keep order among his charges when two rangers fall in love with the same woman, Caroline Dukes (Rachael Leigh Cook). In this made-for-TV retelling of the classic tale A Thousand and One Nights, a woman discovers the ability to spin a good yarn is literally a matter of life and death. Schahriar (Dougray Scott), a powerful sultan who rules Bagdad, has developed a bitterness and distrust of women ever since he discovered his first wife was unfaithful to him. He no longer trusts the fair sex and has vowed to never marry again, but circumstances force him to wed Scheherezade (Mili Avital), a beautiful girl he's known since he was a child. Schahriar decides that if he must marry Scheherezade, he will murder her after their wedding night. Scheherezade, however, is understandably unenthusiastic about this idea, and to postpone her execution, begins regaling Schahriar with a long series of fascinating stories; by keeping him intrigued with her fables of adventure and honor, she hopes his heart will soften and she will be allowed to live. Scheherezade's stories include the tales of Ali Baba (Rufus Sewell), BacBac the Hunchback (Alexei Sayle), Aladdin (Jason Scott-Lee), the Genie of the Lamp (John Leguizamo), and many more. Yet another Saturday Night Live alumnus makes his bid for big-screen success as Rob Schneider, best remembered as the "Making copies!" guy, tackles his first leading role in this broad comedy. Deuce (Rob Schneider) earns a meager living as a professional fish tank cleaner until he's asked to housesit for a gigolo. Deuce mistakenly answers the gigolo's business phone and finds himself having sex with a woman he's never met and getting paid for it (not a bad deal, since women generally avoid Deuce like the Ebola virus). It's not long before Deuce learns that there's more to selling your body than one might expect: for example, being re-styled by your pimp or having to explain your new source of income when the owner of the house gets home. Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo was the first feature film produced by Adam Sandler's production company, Happy Madison; Sandler himself makes a cameo appearance, while Oded Fehr, William Forsythe, Eddie Griffin, and Marlo Thomas highlight the supporting cast. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi
