Based on a BBC radio series of the same name, the British TV sitcom World of Pub starred Phil Cornwell and Peter Serafinowicz as Barry and Garry, the owners of the single most unsuccessful public house (or bar) in London's East End. In their efforts to improve what little business they had, Barry and Garry were susceptible to the outrageous promotional schemes of their buddy Dodgy Phil (Kevin Eldon). These schemes, which ran the gamut from a chug-a-lug competition to transforming the pub into a Michael Caine-themed establishment, were invariably doomed to hilarious failure. The TV version of World of Pub ran for six episodes, from June 24 to July 29, 2001. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

Clean living giveth, and a crazed party taketh away in this broad comedy from Great Britain. Jason Mouseley (Luke de Woolfson) is the son of Barry "Blaze" Mouseley (Phil Cornwell), a wild-living British rock star who passed on a few years back. Imaging that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, Barry's family hatched a plan to encourage his son to live a cleaner and more orderly life. Jason will inherit his late father's mansion and fortune on his 18th birthday, but only under certain conditions -- Jason must be holding down a responsible job, have a steady girlfriend, be getting along with his mother Lorraine (Morwenna Banks), be kind to her dog, and not attend wild parties. Jason is doing his best to obey the terms of his father's will, but his close friend Rob (Simon Lowe) has other ideas, and one weekend while Lorraine is away Rob throws the party to end all parties at the Mouseley estate; within a matter of hours, all of Jason's hard work and resolve has fallen by the wayside. Large was the first feature film from director Justin Edgar; it was adapted from a short subject Edgar directed, Larging It. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

A man looks outside the law for justice and discovers the price was far higher than he expected in the drama Out of Depth. Paul (Sean Maguire) is a graphic designer who is furiously angry and appalled when a drunken thug beats up his mother (Rita Tushingham) and adds insult to injury by urinating on her. Paul vows revenge, but an old chum from school, Steve (Danny Midwinter), tells him he has connections with strong-arm men who would be happy to do the dirty work for him. Paul is introduced to Lenny (Nicholas Ball), an unscrupulous gangster who makes sure the low life who beat up Paul's mum is dealt with harshly. However, Lenny then demands pay back by forcing Paul to deliver some drugs for him, which leads him into unexpected danger. Out of Depth was based on an actual incident. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi
