In this frantic satiric comedy, Maximus Powers (Eric Roberts) and Mike Saunders (Charlie Schlatter) are a pair of airline pilots who are flying a chartered jet to Japan, booked for the contestants in the Miss Galaxy Beauty Pageant. Bad luck is following them and the pilots crash-land on a deserted island, where they struggle to find a way to ferry themselves and the glamour girls back to civilization. However, things on the island are hardly as quiet as they might imagine, as they soon discover its home to a gigantic half-pig, half-dinosaur; a tribe of intelligent ape people; and the remnants of Noah's Ark. As Powers and Saunders plot their next moves, they are recruited for an unusual mission by Special Agent MJ (Michael Jackson), who appears as a giant light in the sky. By the way, that really is Michael Jackson the pop singer appearing in a cameo role; other guest stars include Stuart Pankin, Evan Marriott, and Colleen Shannon. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide
A little girl plays matchmaker for two lonely adults in this romantic comedy. Harrison (Dean Winters) is a struggling freelance writer who's been working on a series of detective novels, but can't find anyone who wants to publish them. One day, Melissa (Lorraine Ansell), one of Harrison's former girlfriends whom he hasn't seen in some time, appears at his doorstep with something of a surprise -- she's going out of town for several weeks, and needs someone to look after her six-year-old daughter, Jenny (Emily Mae Young). Before Harrison has much of a chance to object, Melissa is gone, and he's stuck baby-sitting Jenny, an idea he's less than enthusiastic about. However, before long, Harrison develops a soft spot for the tyke, and precocious Jenny decides what single Harrison needs is a steady girlfriend; Jenny focuses her energies on prodding Harrison into a relationship with Holly (Yasmine Bleeth), a beautiful woman who frequents the same coffee shop. Undercover Angel also features James Earl Jones and Casey Kasem. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

When an Ottawa doctor invents a machine capable of recording a person's DNA in such a way that it can later be used to reverse bodily injuries, he never would have have guessed that he would be the first person to test it out. However, after unwittingly becoming victim to a would-be fatal shooting, the doctor does just that. When he awakens, he finds himself whole with one, glaring exception--his left and right hands are reversed. Though he initially believes the switch to be a sole result of a bug in the system, he begins to wonder if he hasn't, in fact, slipped into a parallel universe. Complicating issues further is the greedy American senator trying desperately to buy or steal the machine for military purposes. Directed by Brian Michael Stoller, The Random Factor features Andrew Divoff, Dennis Hayden, Gloria Pryor, William Richert, and Victoria Morsell. ~ Tracie Cooper, All Movie Guide

Kelly auditions for a film role (in what she calls "just your usual low-budget erotic thriller") but turns the part down to make Sam happy. From CBC's Ottawa studios, the weekly Canadian children's series Film Fun focused on the world of cartoons. On each episode, adult host Brian Smyth would discuss and demonstrate film-animation techniques with two movie-crazy youngsters -- one of whom, 14-year-old Bryan Stoller, was already an accomplished amateur filmmaker. Also included were interviews with Canada's top animators, and a brief but fascinating look at the burgeoning computer-animation industry. First telecast from December 4, 1974 to January 15, 1975, Film Fun was rebroadcast from October 5 to 26, 1976. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
