Directed by filmmaker Timothy Greenfield-Sanders and produced by journalist Elvis Mitchell, this collaborative documentary offers an informative collection of portraits of twenty influential African Americans ranging from powerful CEOs to prolific artists, well-known politicians, and dedicated activists. Artist Bill T. Jones discusses the reaction of his contemporaries after he described himself as an artist first and a black man second, Chris Rock describes how equality in sports didn't come about until there were bad black athletes in the major leagues, and Vernon Jordan ponders the reason why there is a clear definition of black America while white America remains a vague, undefined standard. Other conversations find Academy Award-winning actor Lou Gossett Jr. discussing institutionalized racism and its effect on his onscreen career, museum curator Thelma Golden reflecting on the times when people mistakenly assumed she was her own assistant, and, by contrast, the manner in which author Toni Morrison was encouraged as a young girl to believe that women can be just as strong as men. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide

First-time filmmaker Vince Offer crashes through the outer limits of bad taste in this wildly outrageous collection of comedy sketches. Adapted from material Offer first worked out on a public-access television series, The Underground Comedy Movie includes a gender-switch parody of The Godfather, a cross-dressing version of Dirty Harry, a "Batman" who attacks criminals with a Louisville Slugger, the misadventures of a gay virgin out on the town, a take-off on Randy Newman's song (and music video) "I Love L.A.", a beauty pageant featuring bag ladies as contestants, swimmers being attacked by sharks while a lifeguard ogles beautiful women, and plenty of stuff not too rude to describe in this context. The cast includes Michael Clarke Duncan (in a bit shot before his rise to fame), Gena Lee Nolin, Slash, and Joey Buttafuoco. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

While entertaining some out-of-town investors, Drew (Drew Carey) joins his buddies Oswald (Diedrich Bader) and Lewis (Ryan Stiles) for an improptu songfest at the airport Ramada Inn. When the hotel's manager offers to book the boys on a permanent basis, Drew is reluctant--until he discovers that his one-shot performance has earned him the undying devotion of a sexy groupie named Darcy (Pauly Perrette). Now Drew and his friends must find an appropriate guitarist for their combo, resulting in a Commitments-style series of auditions featuring a staggering array of celebrity guests. Joe Walsh, Jimmy Fox and Dale Peters of The James Gang make the first of a handful of appearances in this episode, which is rounded out by a secondary story arc wherein Kate (Christa Miller) begs Drew to fire her so she can shop around for a better job. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
