This hastily assembled rehash of the infamous Laci Peterson murder case is based on Amber Frey's book Witness: For the Proseuction of Scott Peterson, which may explain why she comes off as the most sympathetic person in the film. Basically, the script adheres to the facts: The mistress of Scott Peterson (Nathan Anderson), Amber Frey (Janel Moloney) begins to suspect that something is amiss with her sweetheart when, during what is supposed to his trip to Europe, he is suddenly popping up on every TV station and cable service in the country, swearing up and down that he had nothing to do with the disappearance of his wife Laci and their unborn son Connor. Eventually, Amber decides to cooperate with the Modesto Police Department in their efforts to pin a murder rap on Scott, agreeing to wear a wire while conversing with Scott over his domestic travails. In his frenzied efforts to counteract previous lies by cooking up new ones, Peterson effectively puts the noose around his own neck--and Amber rightfully emerges as the heroine of the piece (though not, it is hinted, without putting her own life in jeopardy in process). Somehow, the film manages to work in several plugs for the self-help book "du jour", The Purpose-Driven Life. Produced for CBS, the made-for-TV Amber Frey: Witness for the Prosecution premiered May 25, 2005. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
A trio of lifelong friends returns to their hometown of Kalamazoo, MI, for their ten-year high-school reunion, only to discover that their graduation time capsule contains embarrassingly unmet goals for all of them in director David P. O'Malley's affectionate comedy. For Carol Cavanaugh (Josie Davis), Maggie Goldman (Mayim Bialik), and Joan Branson (Joanna Clare Scott), life hasn't necessarily been as fruitful and as glamorous as they may have hoped in the idealistic days of their carefree youth. Though still relatively young and hopeful about the road that lies ahead, the prospect of having all of their unfulfilled dreams trumpeted before every member of their graduating class is much too humiliating to take lying down. Now, as the three lifelong friends attempt to recover the capsule before it can be read aloud, the spirits of their deceased grandmothers appear to offer solace and consolation in an uncertain time of progress and transition. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide

When a highly advanced race of extraterrestrials attempt to hold planet Earth hostage in order to save their own race, one angry father whose daughter has been chosen for sacrifice determines to fight back in this sci-fi thriller starring Brad Johnson and Carl Weathers. An alien race is dying, and in order to survive they need the blood of eight million humans. In order to better persuade the citizens of Earth to make such a substantial "donation," the aliens place a powerful doomsday device over the North Pole. Should humankind refuse to cooperate, the aliens will activate the device and destroy the planet; should they comply, the device will become a power supply source capable of meeting all energy needs for the next three centuries. As countries around the globe prepare to surrender the necessary number of citizens, the United States prepares to deal with the situation by starting a lottery system. Those unfortunate enough to be selected will be immediately liquidized and surrendered to the alien overlords -- at least that was the way it was supposed to go. When scientist Steven Chase learns that his daughter has been singled out for oblation, he chooses not to offer up his only child but to fight back instead. Now, as Steven wages a seemingly futile battle to expose the aliens' weakness and save his daughter's life, the malevolent invaders wreak havoc on the planet by reneging on their plan and harvesting humans at will. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide

In this dark comedy-drama, Trip (Nathan Anderson) walks into the kitchen of his parents' house to discover his mother (Gathering Marbet) is lying on the floor, stabbed to death. His father (Jack Wallace), meanwhile, is relaxing in the living room, waiting for his buddies to show up for their weekly poker game. It doesn't take Trip very long to figure out that Dad killed Mom, presumably over her usual objections to his playing cards with the boys. Trip, however, isn't quite so blasé as his father about this incident, and as the game gets under way, he begins asking questions of his father and dropping hints to the guests in hopes that someone will catch on to what Dad has done. It's a Wonderful Life echoes throughout this episode as Cordelia (Charisma Carpenter) makes a fateful wish. Anya, (Emma Caulfield) a new girl at school, bonds with Cordelia over their mutual loathing of Harmony (Mercedes McNab). Anya also does not seem critical of Cordelia's now ended relationship with Xander (Nicholas Brendon). Cordelia then goes to The Bronze to prove to Xander that she is over him. Buffy (Sarah Michelle Gellar) tries to put in a good word for Xander, but a vampire attack cuts the discussion short and Buffy pushes Cordelia aside. Angry at everyone -- especially the Slayer -- Cordelia later complains to Anya that she wishes Buffy had never come to Sunnydale. Besides being a good listener, Anya is a rascally demon -- Anyanaka -- and grants Cordelia her wish. Suddenly the town is infested by vampires who have the upper hand -- students must dress in clothes that won't attract vampires and the Master vampire holds court at The Bronze. Cordelia tries to adjust, but obviously regrets her wish. Soon, a vampire Willow (Alyson Hannigan) and a bloodsucking Xander drain Cordelia, and it is up to Giles (Anthony Head) and Angel (David Boreanaz) to reverse Anyanaka's spell. ~ All Movie Guide
