Nick Chen (Chow Yun-Fat) was the first Chinese-born immigrant in the NYPD, and is now one of the force's most decorated officers. As such, he's been named leader of the city's Asian Gang Unit, who are the primary peacekeepers in Chinatown. Trouble has just arrived for the Triads, the long-entrenched Chinese gangsters who are the real power behind Chinatown. After years of posing as honest businessmen, the Triad's powers are threatened by the newly arrived Fukienese Dragons. With a gang war on the horizon, the city sends a new recruit, Danny Wallace (Mark Wahlberg), to join Chen's unit. Danny finds Chen and the AGU in a very comfortable (perhaps too comfortable) relationship with the Triads. When the mobsters attempt to corrupt Danny, Chen must reassess his relationship with the Triads, and Danny must also learn that certain concessions must be made to ensure the peace in this world set apart from the rest of New York. ~ Ron Wells, All Movie Guide

The Enterprise visits Velara III, where terraformers work night and day to make the uninviting planet inhabitable. One of the terraformers (Mario Raccuzzo) is killed in a freak accident, prompting Picard and his crew to investigate. It turns out that the planet is the host of a heretofore unknown -- and malevolently intelligent -- inorganic life form. First broadcast February 27, 1988, "Home Soil" was scripted by Robert Sabaroff, who also cowrote the original story with Karl Guers and Ralph Sanchez. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
The Challenge of a Lifetime is Hawaii's Ironman Triathalon. Unless you're an ironman, the outcome of this competition may not be of paramount importance to you. But it is crucial to Penny Marshall, a divorced mother seeking to prove that she's more than just an adjunct to her family. Marshall enters the 140-mile triathalon, which requires her to run, swim, and navigate a bicycle. Most of those who caught this TV movie's premiere on February 14, 1985, had tumbled to its outcome before the second commercial. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

Supreme Court nominee Judge Robert Caine (Jose Ferrer) gives Magnum (Tom Selleck) 24 hours to locate the woman Caine married in Honolulu on December 6, 1941, when he was a Navy ensign and she was a prostitute. Someone is blackmailing the Judge, and he thinks that the long-lost (and presumed dead) "Diana" is responsible. But when Magnum catches up with the woman (June Lockhart) matching Diana's description, she gives him an entirely different story--one that casts some decidedly sinister aspersions on Magnum's client. In a brilliant piece of casting, Miguel Ferrer and Anne Lockhart, respectively the son and daughter of guest stars Jose Ferrer and June Lockhart, portray their parents' characters in a lengthy flashback sequence. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
