Combing the semi-operatic vocals of Freddie Mercury with the distinctive guitar heroics of Brian May and the powerful rhythms of Roger Taylor and John Deacon, Queen was one of the most popular and acclaimed British rock bands of the '70s and '80s, displaying a keen sense for the importance of the video medium, years before the emergence of MTV. Queen: Greatest Video Hits, Vol. 1 features 22 performances from the group, with the audio overhauled and remixed for surround stereo playback. Songs include "Bohemian Rhapsody," "We Are the Champions," "Another One Bites the Dust," "Crazy Little Thing Called Love," "You're My Best Friend," "Tie Your Mother Down," and more. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

In this two-part miniseries pilot for the British cop show of the same name, Trevor Eve starred as Detective Chief Inspector Peter Boyd of the "Cold Case" squad. On this occasion, Boyd dogged the trail of a serial killer who preyed on schoolgirls. Reopening an unsolved murder case, Boyd hoped to use the evidence at hand to catch the elusive murderer, who seemed to be repeating his familiar pattern after five years of inactivity. This particular investigation ended up taking a great personal toll, not only on the relatives of the victims but also on Boyd and his family. Waking the Dead originally aired on September 4 and 5, 2000. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

Well-groomed junior transfer student Eddy (Josh Charles) forges an unlikely friendship with messy party animal Stuart (Stephen Baldwin) after the two room together in an all-male dorm at a large university. When Alex (Lara Flynn Boyle) ends up in the adjoining suite because of her mannish name, all three students fall into an overheated friendship that provides cover for no less than three unrequited loves. Alex, a sexpot who's turned on by big words, falls hard for intellectual Eddy, who's actually pining away for the ripped, oversexed Stuart, who's got the hots for Alex. As the three friends try unsuccessfully to alleviate their collective sexual and romantic tension, dorm-desk workers Dick (Alexis Arquette) and Renay (Martha Gehman) become convinced that there's something kinky going on -- and they may just be right. ~ Brian J. Fans of the hard-rock group Queen will be delighted to discover this well-produced concert video, featuring the foursome in their July 27, 1986 performance in Budapest. Aside from an overview of the stadium they are to perform in and shots of them being deliriously received by fans, the vast bulk of the film is devoted to the performance of their best-known songs. The cameramen and producers are evidently fans, as reviewers noted that they fell in skillfully with the band's performance. Though there are no interviews, the film does include some brief shots of each of the band members as they play the tourist in the town. ~ Clarke Fountain, Rovi
