Inspired by the true story of Kiranjit Ahluwalia, Jag Mundhra's Provoked tells the tale of a battered wife pushed to the ultimate act of defiance. As a nineteen year old girl living in a small Punjab village with her overbearing sisters and their husbands, Kiranjit Ahluwalia (Aishwarya Rai) aspired to get a college education and see the world. Despite her ambitious plans, however, Kiranjit put her entire future on hold the moment she met handsome family friend Deepak (Naveen Andrews). Later, after a whirlwind romance, Kiranjit and Deepak married and prepared to move into Deepak's home in a quaint suburb of London. Kiranjit's storybook romance would quickly give way to a terrifying reality however when, over the course of the following decade, the loving bride suffered a relentless torrent of emotional and physical abuse of her tyrannical husband. Eventually pushed to her breaking point and desperately fearing for the safety of her children, Kiranjit killed Deepak and was subsequently sentenced to life in prison. Though Kiranjit was at first reluctant to share the details of her harrowing experience, she eventually became convinced that the only way to break the cycle of violence was to share her story with the world. Originally titled Art of Betrayal, the nightly, hour-long Wicked Wicked Games was the fourth of the fledgling MyNetwork's English-language "novellas." When the series was first announced, Sean Young was billed as the leading character, ruthless real-estate magnate Blythe Hunter, by the time filming commenced, Young had been replaced by former child actress Tatum O'Neal. 25 years after she and her twin sons were abandoned by her husband Theodore Crawford (Clive Robertson), who threw her over for a much wealthier woman, the now-powerful and influential Blythe set about to orchestrate an intricate and fiendish plan of revenge. Her scheme involved having her grown sons Josh (David Smith) and Aaron (Jack Krizmanich) insinuate themselves into the lives and hearts of Crawford's daughters Emma (Jessie Ward) and Brooke (Kate French), the better to marry the girls so that Blythe could gain full control of Crawford's business empire in general and his "Tides" racetrack in particular. Complications ensued when, digressing from the plan, Aaron fell for party-girl Brooke instead of sensible Emma, while Josh, a doctor who initially had no idea what his mother was up to, suddenly tumbled to the revenge plot. The enormous supporting cast was headed by Femi Emiola as Blythe's assistant Lani Walker, who may have had more on her mind than mere job security. The legend of Jacques D'Artagnan (Michael York) gets a gender-bending update in this swashbuckling adventure from stuntman-turned-director Steve Boyum. Now it's time for Valentine to strike out on her own. With her father's sword and a letter of introduction to Commander Flint (Roy Dotrice), the eager young novice sets out to seek her fortune in Paris. Though a woman has never before been appointed the rank of swordsman, Valentine is determined to prove her worth by taking on a deadly mission to rescue the bride-to-be of King Louis XIV from a band of fearsome kidnappers, teaming with the sons of the legendary musketeers who rode with her father. There's more to the mission than meets the eye, however. After discovering that a mysterious stolen letter which could destroy the reputation of the king rests in the possession of the wicked Lady Bolton (Nastassja Kinski), Valentine is framed for murder and imprisoned by the venomous villain. Directed by former CIA officer Michael Sellers, Vlad chronicles the far-reaching consequences of a professor's (Child's Play veteran Brad Dourif) request that his students visit the tomb of the infamous Vlad Drakul (aka Vlad the Impaler). Known as one of the cruelest figures in world history, Drakul's reputation for dismembering his victims ultimately led to the belief that he himself may have been a vampire -- he was, in fact, the inspiration for Bram Stoker's Dracula. With this in mind, four foreign-exchange students, along with their Romanian tour guide (Billy Zane), venture into the bowels of Drakul's final resting place. When the students come into contact with a legendary necklace, they realize that its rumored ability to traverse throughout time and space is no myth.
