Two mismatched misfits become an unstoppable crime-fighting team in this action comedy from Argentina. Mariano (Diego Peretti) is a perpetually jumpy psychoanalyst who one day causes an auto accident. Mariano is found at fault in the crash, and the judge orders him to join policeman Alfredo Diaz (Luis Luque) on patrol as community service. Alfredo is pudgy, depressed and not very happy in his work, and as they cruise the beat in his patrol car, Mariano uses his professional expertise to help Alfredo to get in touch with his feelings. Alfredo's attitude towards life improves, and he he's deeply grateful to his new friend, going so far as helping Mariano get to the bottom of his suspicions that his wife is cheating on him. Alfredo's superiors are so impressed with his improved performance in tandem with Mariano that they're given a special assignment -- tracking down Lebonian (Oscar Ferreiro), a killer preying on the city's low life. A professional thief has to decide if doing the right thing for a stranger is worth the possibility of a long prison sentence in this comedy-drama from Argentina. While most car thieves are eager to get rid of their evidence as quickly as possible, Esteban (Diego Peretti) is different -- he steals automobiles for a fence who then breaks down the vehicles and sells the parts, but he has a weakness for swiping taxicabs, and before turning them over to his partners, he likes to pick up a fare or two and talk with the passengers. One day, Esteban rips off another cab and picks up Laura (Josefina Viton), who needs a ride. However, Esteban soon finds out he hasn't picked up a typical customer -- Laura has just been shot and needs to go to a hospital. While Esteban is sympathetic, he knows taking her to a hospital will lead to questions from the police that could land him in jail. This Argentine dramatic anthology represents the second collaborative effort of Nicolas Saad, Mariano De Rosa, Salvador Roselli and Rodrigo Moreno, all graduates of Argentina's main film school, the Universidad del Cine (their first film together was the critically acclaimed Moebius). The four vignettes all take place in Buenos Aires during the state elections and offer unflinching and often unflattering looks at Argentine society as it prepares to enter the 21st century. The first episode "The Wish" centers on a poor country boy who finds success in the teeming city by participating in one of its many illegal operations. The second, "Life and Works," follows a band of Paraguayan construction workers as they try to reestablish a sense of cultural pride and community after meeting a woman whom one of them believes is the Virgin Mary. "Hard Times" follows a teenage outcast in his endeavors to romance an upper-class girl, and in "Comrades" the sound recordist of a campaigning politician finds himself unwittingly entangled in some shady business.
