The 1995 Academy award-winning film Babe was Australian-made and featured the latest in talking animal anima-tronics. It told the heart-warming story of a sheepherding pig named Babe and his rise to community fame. The film was a tremendous hit, both financially and critically. Babe: Pig in the City is the higher budgeted American-made sequel that picks up where the original left off. It was directed by George Miller (Mad Max trilogy) who produced the original Babe film, and received a lot of criticism for being much darker than the original. The story owes more to George Orwell's Animal Farm or Charles Dickens' Oliver Twist than the original film. Having triumphed at the National Sheepdog trials, Babe returns home a hero. But after farmer Hoggett (James Cromwell) suffers from a farming accident, Mrs. Hoggett, a naive portly woman, is left to work the ranch alone. It's not long before the bank comes knocking. Desperate to save her farm from foreclosure, she accepts an offer for Babe to perform his sheepherding abilities at an overseas state fair. Babe, Mrs. Hoggett, Ferdinand the duck, and the singing mice travel across the ocean to a surreal metropolis, where they suddenly become stranded and separated. Soon Babe is performing with circus apes, being chased by wild strays (sounding a lot like Marlon Brando in The Godfather), and making a new wheelchair-bound canine friend (voiced by Adam Goldberg). He also is anointed leader of the animal community. What Babe lacks in street smarts he makes up for in honest goodness as he teaches audiences yet again that "an unprejudiced heart can mend a broken world." ~ Arthur Borman, All Movie Guide

Produced for the Disney Channel, this half-hour educational series marked two "firsts" in the Disney canon: the first time that studio icon Mickey Mouse headlined a show designed specifically for preschoolers, and the first time (outside of a few commercials) in which Mickey, Minnie, Donald Duck, Daisy, Pluto, Goofy, Chip & Dale, and the rest of the studio menagerie was animated via CGI rather than traditional "cel" cartoonwork. The program utilized the familiar Disney characters to help the kids at home with their cognitive skills, to learn how to help others, and to develop strong moral and ethical values. Each time a new word or phrase was introduced, a mouse-shaped "toolbox" appeared onscreen, through which the kids at home could interact with the characters onscreen as part of the basic learning process. Trademarks of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse included the magic words "Meeska, Mooska, Mickey Mouse" (a variation on a familiar incantation introduced on the original Mickey Mouse Club way back when) and a sort of signature tune, "The Hot Dog Song," performed by They Might Be Giants. Miss Hoover (voice of Maggie Roswell), one of the teachers at Springfield Elementary School, contracts Lyme Disease and is forced to take a leave of absence, so Lisa (voice of Yeardley Smith) and her class have to make do with a substitute teacher, Mr. Bergstrom (voice of Sam Etic). Mr. Bergstrom is funny, enthusiastic about teaching, and offers Lisa much more encouragement in her intellectual abilities than Miss Hoover ever did, and Lisa soon finds herself developing a crush on him. On Mr. Bergstrom's recommendation, Lisa asks Homer (voice of Dan Castellaneta) to take her to the local historical museum, where they run into Bergstrom; Homer behaves like a boor, and Lisa is mortified and ashamed of her father. As Homer realizes he has to do something to win back his daughter's respect and affection, Lisa is crushed to find Miss Hoover back in class and Mr. Bergstrom moving to another town. Amidst all this, Bart (voice of Nancy Cartwright) wages a hard-fought political campaign to become class president over Martin Prince (voice of Russi Taylor). Based very loosely on the classic novel by Alexandre Dumas, this direct-to-video Disney version of The Three Musketeers features Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and Goofy as janitors who become pawns in a scheme by Peg-leg Pete to take the throne away from Princess Minnie. The threesome works together in order to save the princess and the kingdom. The film features a half-dozen new songs, some of which are based on classical works by famous composers like Tchaikovsky and Beethoven. ~ Perry Seibert, All Movie Guide
