Her latest heist having gone horribly awry, a professional thief heads back to her quiet hometown in order to maintain a low profile, only to find herself recruited to watch after her young nephew and nice when her sister is stranded in a tropical storm and unable to make it home for Christmas. Cate Dove (Shannen Doherty) isn't exactly the kind of woman most folks would hire to watch after their kids. In fact, the only reason she's come returned to her hometown of Comfort, Connecticut is to avoid the authorities after botching an elaborate jewel heist and getting stabbed in the back by Clive (Conrad Coates), her once-faithful partner-in-crime. Upon receiving word that her sister is stuck on an island in a tropical storm and won't be able to catch a flight out for days, Cate reluctantly agrees to look after her nephew Parker and her niece Annie. But familial responsibilities quickly take a back seat to criminal scheming when Cate realizes that her sister's quaint little neighborhood is a virtual treasure trove just waiting to be mined by such a resourceful criminal as herself. Sylvester Stallone returns to the director's chair for Rocky Balboa, the fifth sequel to the film that made him a superstar 30 years before. The movie begins with Rocky (Stallone) still mourning the death of his loyal and beloved wife, Adrian, who died three years previously after losing a battle against cancer. Rocky owns an Italian restaurant and spends his days living in his working-class Philadelphia neighborhood, visiting with his customers, and telling stories about his past. His grown son has a job as a business professional, but the relationship between the two is strained. Rocky's growing dissatisfaction leads him to attempt to purge the feelings of frustration and loss by applying for a boxing license. When the current heavyweight champion, Mason "The Line" Dixon (Antonio Tarver), needs to rehabilitate his image as a pretty boy who has never shown any real heart in the ring, his manager offers Rocky an exhibition match. After the death of his wife, Byron (Jonathon Schaech) finds himself chronically depressed, so he decides to hop into his junk heap of a car and drive to Memphis. Along they way he picks up a hitchhiker (Harvey Keitel) in a pink jacket who informs Byron he's Elvis Presley and wants to go back home to Graceland. As one might expect, Byron is convinced this guy is a few doughnuts short of a dozen, but the closer they get to Memphis, the more he wonders if there isn't a bit of Elvis in him after all, especially after he picks up a beautiful Marilyn Monroe impersonator (Bridget Fonda).
