Two years after director Menhaj Huda offered an unflinching look at the lives of troubled London youth in Kidulthood, that film's screenwriter and star Noel Clarke steps up to the challenge of directing for this sequel that finds Sam Peel struggling to stop the cycle of violence that nearly destroyed his life. Sam (Clarke) has just served six years for killing Trife, and now he's a free man. But life isn't any easier for Sam on the outside than it was on the inside, because out on the streets he is forced to confront the people he hurt on a daily basis. Some of those people have decided to move on with their lives, but others don't have that luxury. Now, as Sam begins to come to grips with his sorrow and guilt, he is surprised to discover that a new generation of bad boys is out for bloody revenge. Years ago, Trife had tried to warn Sam that he should stop the violence before it's too late. Today it's Sam's duty to try and get that message across and prevent the kids on the streets from throwing their lives away for a skewed sense of honor that doesn't even really exist. Hopefully, for both Sam and the next generation, the kids of today will be more receptive to that message than he once was. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

Filmmaker Sally Potter directed this artful meditation on the dynamics of the romantic and sexual relationship. She (Joan Allen) is an intelligent and gifted genetic scientist of Irish-American heritage who feels smothered in her marriage to a British politician (Sam Neill). While dining at a friend's house, She meets He (Simon Abkarian), a handsome Lebanese exile who was a respected surgeon in his homeland but now supports himself in London as a cook. He flirts with her, and She is pleased with his advances; weeks later, she contacts him, and an affair begins. However, despite their mutual attraction, He and She find it difficult to set aside their political and national differences for very long, as love and lust wage a quiet war against the conscience and the intellect. Yes also features supporting performances from Shirley Henderson and Sheila Hancock. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

A group of would-be hipsters looking for a good time find more trouble than they expected in this edgy comedy. By the end of the night, Helen has lost her briefcase and the irreplaceable computer disc inside, Mitch has been dosed with LSD, and Jake rubs a drug-dealing gangster the wrong way. South West Nine was the first feature from writer and director Richard Parry. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

Actor Leon Herbert made his debut as a writer and director with this independent comedy drama. John (Wil Johnson) is a tailor who likes his work and is happy with his girlfriend Mary (Daniela Lavender) -- enough so that he asks her to marry him; however, Mary not only declines the offer but decides it's time to split up and spend some time working on her own emotional issues. Eager to win her back, John turns to his best friend Steve (Leon Herbert) for advice. Steve, an actor who has been rehearsing a role in Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew, takes an aggressive view of the situation and recommends a strategy not unlike his take-no-prisoners approach to backgammon. Meanwhile, Mary also confers with a friend, Jane (Jacqueline de Peza), whose attitude towards men is not especially charitable. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi
