Dave Grohl had been writing and recording songs since he was a teenager in Washington D.C., but it wasn't until Nirvana collapsed after the death of Kurt Cobain that Grohl opted to step out from behind the drum set and move forward as a frontman. The Foo Fighters' self-titled debut album featured Grohl playing all the instruments, but he soon assembled a working version of the band to go out on tour, and seventeen years after their 1994 debut, the Foo Fighters have weathered personal differences, a demanding touring schedule and health issues to become one of the world's most successful hard rock bands. Foo Fighters: Back and Forth is a documentary about the band in which Grohl and his bandmates talk about the band's history, perform some of their best-known songs for a sold-out audience, and work in Grohl's makeshift home studio with producer Butch Vig to record their seventh studio album, Wasting Light. Foo Fighters: Back and Forth received its world premiere at the 2011 South by Southwest Film Festival. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

After the Gulf Coast was ravaged by a barrage of tropical storms, six television networks simultaneously broadcast this one hour fundraising concert in order to benefit those who lost their homes, lives, and families during the natural disaster. Some of the artists who participated in the hopes of both assisting and paying tribute to those who had survived, include Neil Young singing When God Made Me and U2 collaborating with Mary J. Blige for the song One. Entertainers such as Jack Black and Chris Rock also appear in the program to provide both introductions and comic relief. ~ Cammila Collar, Rovi

Does HIV really cause AIDS? This is just one of the controversial questions posed in Robin Scovill's incendiary, thought-provoking documentary The Other Side of AIDS. Why is it that HIV tests only detect the antibodies of the virus, and not HIV itself? Despite using $150 in federal funds to research HIV over the course of twenty years, today's scientists aren't any closer to explaining how that virus causes AIDS than they were at the dawn of the 1990s. Some claim that our inability to cure AIDS is a direct result of our unwillingness to consider that we've been wrong all along, and open our minds to exploring new avenues of research. Prepare to be faced with some of the toughest questions ever posed about AIDS, and the ways in which we've responded to it as a society. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

Playing drums for Nirvana might not have seemed like the launching pad for a great guitar-slinging frontman, but Dave Grohl survived the collapse of Seattle's finest to form one of America's finest hard rock bands, The Foo Fighters. The Foo Fighters: Everywhere but Home is a live video that captures the band at various venues during their 2002-2003 world tour, as well as presents rare acoustic and archival material. Songs include "All My Life," "Everlong," "For All the Cows," "Learn to Fly," "Monkey Wrench," and more. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

Sarah Pirozek filmed this documentary combining interviews with concert footage of the 1996 San Francisco Tibetan Freedom Concert, which attracted 100,000 people to Golden Gate Park. The film's executive producer, Beastie Boy Adam Yauch, is a Buddhist who initiated the concept of the annual concert. Included are current-events clips (the Dalai Lama addressing Congress, President Clinton announcing a continuation of trade despite China's treatment of Tibetans). With numbers (or partial performances) from top groups (A Tribe Called Quest, Beastie Boys, Bjork, De La Soul, Foo Fighters, Fugees, Richie Havens, John Lee Hooker, Biz Markie, Tim Meadows, Yoko Ono, Pavement, Rage Against the Machine, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Sonic Youth, Smashing Pumpkins), this film was distributed to one city at a time and marketed like a concert tour. ~ Bhob Stewart, Rovi
