John Gorton Movies
Australia's 19th Prime Minister (1968-1971) and local film industry advocate
John Gorton established a local coin bank for emerging filmmakers, a film and television school, and a fund to finance television production, all of which endeared him to the hearts of Down Under film lovers and struggling filmmakers. His work to advance the local film industry was a key component in the growth and maturation that is still resounding years after his term ended. In May of 2002,
Gorton died in Sydney's St. Vincent's Hospital after a prolonged illness. He was 90. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi
