While the tango may have occupied the dancing feet of postwar society according to some scenes in this melancholy comedy, others in the society, like irrepressible Armenian husband Ruben (Mger Mkrchyan), were occupied with somehow restructuring their own lives. When Ruben comes home to his wife and children after the war, it is only to say good-bye; he has decided to move in with a nurse he met during the course of military service. The nurse, it turns out, is also a friend of his wife's. Though the wife's adjustment to her loss and the man's own emotional state are not fodder for laughter, when certain items of household use are shunted back and forth between the man's former home and his new one, comedy takes over for awhile, as it does in other segments of the film as well. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, Rovi
