Based on a true story, this drama stars Sissy Spacek as Marie Ragghianti, a Tennessee housewife stuck in a bad marriage with an abusive husband and caring for a child with long-term health problems. Determined to turn her life around, Marie leaves her husband and goes back to school. Against long odds, she completes her college degree and is able to land a job with the Tennessee State Government. Thanks to hard work and being in the right place at the right time, Marie moves up the ladder to become the head of the Tennessee Parole Board. However, the more authority Marie gains, the more corruption she sees, reaching to the highest offices in the state -- Eddie Sisk (Jeff Daniels), special assistant to the governor, has worked out a system by which he can collect bribes on behalf of the governor in exchange for political favors, without the governor himself being directly implicated. An angry Marie decides that it's time she did something about the graft and dirty dealing in the parole department, but she soon discovers that the governor has many powerful friends who can easily discredit her in the press. Whether you asked for a sequel to Ator the Fighting Eagle or not, we offer you Ator, the Invincible. Miles O'Keeffe, the much-maligned star of Bo Derek's Tarzan picture, is back as pumped-up prehistoric warrior Ator. This time he must save the world from the "Geometric Nucleus", a sort of cro-magnon doomsday device. You can't blast Ator back to the Stone Age because he's already there, so Ator had better defuse the weapon before there's no there there (to paraphrase Gertrude Stein). As goofy as this low-budget adventure flick is, it's a decided improvement over Ator the Fighting Eagle. Check this one out (under its original title or its alternate cognomens Blade Master and Cave Dwellers) and you're in for a fun evening--if not a totally believable one. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

Fanny Hill (Lisa Raines) is a buxom country maiden who arrives in the big city and quickly begins an affair with the scion of a wealthy family in this softcore version of an old British tale. When the clan patriarch dies, Fanny is ready to marry her lover until she discovers he has been unfaithful -- that sets her on a course of erotic adventures that begins in protest and ends in great wealth. By the time she has experienced almost every kind of sex imaginable -- or unimaginable -- she is a millionairess. Loosely based on the scandalous, 18th-century novel Memoirs of a Woman of Pleasure by John Clelland, Fanny Hill had two different cinematic incarnations in the 1960s (by Russ Meyer and Mac Ahlberg). First released in 1981 as Sneakers, this feeble story about a young teen trying to succeed on the amateur tennis tour is heavy on tennis sequences and light on content, storyline, and character development. The heroine Karen (Carling Bassett) is an unseeded, talented player snubbed by her peers because her mother (Susan Anton) is a Las Vegas showgirl. Karen's eventual friend, the top-seeded Missy (Shawn Foltz) has a tough-as-nails mom (Jessica Walter), so both young teens have their own personal crosses to bear.
