Seeking solace after learning of the death of her brother, Chiana (Gigi Edgley) borrows Aeryn's power system and speeds off to the Royal Cemetary Planet. Here Chiana forms a bond with the Clansmen, a underground community of teens and young adults who sustain themselves with drugs and hedonism. Aeryn (Claudia Black) and Crichton (Ben Browder) are willing to respect Chiana's efforts to assuage her grief, but Rygel (Jonathan Hardy) tries to profit from the girl's plight by plundering the Cemetary Planet's tombs -- with horrifying results. Sex and the singles scene is a much explored and exploited subject in cinema, particularly in the 1990's. Strange Fits of Passion tries to avoid clichés in narrating a young woman's desperate crusade to lose her virginity. The result is a bittersweet fable in which the protagonist takes the viewer along on her journey through hilarious sexual and social misadventures as she struggles to discover the meaning of sex, love, and desire in a world which is post-modern and post-everything. Australian novelist Robert Carter adapted and directed his own novel for this low-budget Australian drama about a teen in therapy. Loner Harris Berne (Matt Day), age 17, develops a crush on divorced Helen (Rhondda Findleton) while baby-sitting her two children. But during play one day, the little girl hides in a refrigerator and dies. Harris is sent to a halfway house where he encounters incest victim Angela (Michela Noonan), mute by choice, and psychiatrist Sam Lejeune (John Waters), who helps Harris come to grips with his problems.
