When an up-and-coming hip-hop star named Rapturious receives a special delivery from his well-stocked dealer, the hellish hallucinations he experiences make him wonder if he hasn't gone completely insane in writer/director Kamal Ahmed's mind-bending horror film. Intrigued, Rapturious eagerly takes the drug and quickly begins experiencing a series of profoundly disturbing hallucinations. Rapturious's manager Sid (Debbie Rochon) always knew that the rapper was a bit unstable, but when he begins claiming to see demons that are hungering for his immortal soul, she rightly begins to fear that he has finally fallen off the deep end. A doctor learns there's more to his profession than making money in this comedy-drama. Charlie Keegan (Robert Capelli Jr.) is a physician who has built up a lucrative practice by caring more about profits and working the loopholes of medical insurance claims than looking after the needs of his patients. While Keegan's scams allow him to live high for a while, eventually his misdeeds catch up with him, and when he's found guilty of insurance fraud, as part of his sentence he's ordered to spend six months doing volunteer work at Shady Pines, an nursing home for the elderly that has seen better days. With the help of Jill (Emmanuelle Chriqui), a pretty and compassionate nurse who works at the home, Keegan makes friends with his often eccentric patients and learns to deal with the other members of the staff and their many problems. In time, Keegan finds himself looking at the Shady Pines residents as people rather than clients, and gains a new perspective on himself and his career; he also finds himself falling in love with the idealistic Jill. Also starring Pat Hingle, Betsy Palmer, Paige Turco, and Artie Lange, Waltzing Anna was the first directorial effort from the team of Doug Bollinger and Bx Giongrete. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

UPN's first prime-time CGI-animated comedy series, Game Over dealt with the Smashenberns, a family of computerized video game characters. Mom Raquel Smashenbern (voiced by Lucy Liu) was a dead ringer for Lara Croft, dad Rip Smashenbern (voiced by Patrick Warburton) would not be out of place as a Grand Prix racer, and 13-year-old Billy and 14-year old Alice spent most of their time figuring out just what game they'd be best suited for (you know those teenagers; they never feel like they quite belong). Also in the cast was the family's 300-pound pet, Turbo, one of those amorphous, unrecognizable blobs that tended show up in real video games if the player forgot to defrag. The Smashenburns' nutty neighbors were the Changs, a clan of battling Shaolin Monks. Living in the alternate "afterworld" of Game Over, the main characters struggled to fulfill their strenuous video game duties while trying to maintain a semblance of normality in their private lives. In several instances, genuine video game characters showed up in guest roles. Debuting March 10, 2004, Game Over, produced by the same people responsible for 3rd Rock From the Sun and That '70s Show, lasted a scant six half-hour episodes, only five of which were seen before it was canceled by UPN. Actor/filmmaker Robert Capelli Jr., responsible for the 1999 bikini-infested film The Rules (For Men), teams up with film editor Jeffery Wolf to direct the so-called comedy Mail Order Bride. Danny Aiello stars in this film which tries to find humor in a story about the Russian and Italian Mafia involved in the business of human smuggling. Also starring Frank Gorshin (from the original Batman) and Vincent Pastore (from The Sopranos). Mail Order Bride premiered at the 2003 American Film Market. ~ Andrea LeVasseur, All Movie Guide

Chuck Barris is best known to most Americans as the guy who used to host The Gong Show. He was also the creator and producer of The Dating Game, The Newlywed Game, and a handful of other successful game shows in the 1960s and 1970s. But was he also a hired killer working with the CIA? That's the take-it-or-leave-it premise of Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, based on the memoir of the same name by Chuck Barris. Barris (Sam Rockwell) grows up dreaming of success in show biz and winning the hearts of beautiful women, but early on, he meets with plenty of resistance from both women and the television industry, despite writing the hit tune "Palisades Park" and scoring a job with Dick Clark on American Bandstand. The 1960s proves more fortunate for Barris; he meets the love of his life, Penny (Drew Barrymore), and sells ABC on the idea of The Dating Game. However, after the show has made him wealthy and successful, Barris is approached by the mysterious Jim Byrd (George Clooney), a CIA agent who wants to recruit Barris as a covert operative. Barris finds the notion of playing spy games intriguing and agrees, but soon discovers what Byrd and his partners really want is for Barris to assassinate uncooperative figures around the world. Soon, Barris finds that his life has been all but taken over by Byrd and another CIA agent, the mysterious and sexy Patricia (Julia Roberts). As he hops the globe, killing people in the name of American security (using his status as a Dating Game chaperone as a cover), Barris learns that the KGB has discovered his not-so-little secret and that his own life is in great danger. Confessions of a Dangerous Mind marked the directorial debut of actor George Clooney, working from a screenplay adapted by Charlie Kaufman from Barris' book. In this romantic comedy, Chris O'Donnell plays Jimmie, the grandson of an eccentric millionaire. At the reading of his grandfather's will, Jimmie learns that he stands to inherit $100 million on his 30th birthday. There's only one stipulation: Jimmie has to be married to get the money. And he is going to turn 30 in 24 hours. Jimmie and his sweetheart (Renee Zellweger) have already been talking about marriage, but she thinks it's wrong to marry for the money. The Bachelor co-stars James Cromwell, Brooke Shields, and singer Mariah Carey in her acting debut. Shortly after leaving the "Weekend Update" anchor slot on Saturday Night Live, Norm Macdonald resurfaced in this comedy about smart-aleck Mitch Weaver who teams with buddy Sam McKenna (Artie Lange of Mad TV). They open a revenge-for-hire business (Dirty Work Inc.) in order to raise $50,000 so Sam's father (Jack Warden) can get a heart transplant. After they bring down a dictatorial movie theater manager (Don Rickles), they next hire prostitutes to pose as dead bodies during an auto dealer's live TV commercial. Millionaire real-estate developer Travis Cole (Christopher McDonald) is bothered when Mitch and Sam interfere with his plan to wipe a woman's home out of existence. Cole hires Dirty Work to trash a building, so he can have it condemned. However, Cole doesn't own the building, and problems arise, mainly since the grandmother of Mitch's girlfriend lives in the building. The feud escalates.
