Monk (Tony Shalhoub) is called in to investigate the supposedly accidental" death of of Elliot D'Souza (Mark Tymchyshyn), chief financial officer for the notorious girlie magazine "Sapphire". Elliot's secretary Miss Luden (Fay Masterson) is convinced that he was murdered by Sapphire's publisher Dexter Larsen (Gary Cole)--who, naturally, has the usual airtight alibi. Complicating matters so far as Monk is concerned is the fact that his nurse-assistant Sharona (Bitty Schram) once posed nude for "Sapphire" and is trying to keep this secret from her son. Oliver Robins' Wild Roomies stars A.J. Buckley as Reno, a man who, as the film opens, discovers his roommate having sex with his girlfriend. Although Reno promises himself he will never again share living quarters with a roommate, he finds himself in a financial crunch. Although by this point he is involved with Holly (Holly Fields), Reno must take on two new borders. After extensive interviews, he decides on Chad, a Lothario who tries to seduce nearly every woman he meets, and Nicole (Jennifer Lyons), who begins to show a strong desire to sleep with Reno. The lowbrow side of higher education returns to the screen in this purposefully tasteless comedy brought to you by the folks at National Lampoon. It's a few days before Christmas vacation, and a mood of giddy enthusiasm is in the air at a coed college dormitory. However, one of the students, a freshman, is despondent over his lack of success with the ladies during his first term at school. His older brother decides the lad needs to lose his virginity before he can make any real progress with his classmates, and hires a prostitute named Dominique (Boti Bliss) to give his brother some experience in the ways of physical love. However, it turns out that more than one Dominique is on her way to the dorm -- a French foreign-exchange student with the same name and almost no working knowledge of the English language (Marie Noelle Marquis) also shows up, and much confusion and comic hijinks ensue. Shot under the title Dorm Day Crazy, National Lampoon Presents: Dorm Daze was produced independently, but was later picked up by the National Lampoon organization, who in turn arranged a distribution deal for the picture. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide
Pop star Joey Lawrence stars in this blend of comedy and horror about a group of college kids who get a lot more than they counted on when they head to Mexico for a good time. Film student Johnny Orpheus (Lawrence) and his buddies Paul (Nathan Anderson) and Al (Josh Marchette) decide to head down to Mexico's Rosaferno Beach for a major league party, held to commemorate the national celebration of the Day of the Dead. A Mexican medicine man persuades Johnny to try a potion that will allow him to read women's minds, doubtless a great advantage in winning the girl of your dreams. Johnny tries it, only to discover it also makes him see Hector (Rene L. Moreno), a horrific demon who has risen from hell to reclaim the hand of his former lover, Carlotta. Moving from its longtime Sunday-night timeslot to a Saturday-evening berth, Married. . .With Children launched its eleventh and final season on September 28, 1996 with an extended takeoff of the then-current film hit Twister. Bud Bundy (David Faustino) fakes a tornado in order to frighten his girl Ariel (Jennifer Lyons) into his arms--and, hopefully, into the sack. Alas, a real tornado foils this scheme, forcing the Bundys and the D'Arcys to take shelter in Bud's bedroom. In the first episode of a two-part story, Peg (Katey Sagal) and Marcy (Amanda Bearse) prepare to administer first aid when Al (Ed O'Neill) and Jefferson (Ted McGinley) head to the roof to install a satellite dish. Meanwhile, Bud (David Faustino) borrows money from a shady character named Vito Capone (Perry Anzilotti)--whose phone number is 1-500-HORSE-HEAD--to finance an exercise video starring Kelly (Christina Applegate) and her latest boyfriend Raphael (John Carlos Frey). Bud (David Faustion) will not graduate from Trumaine if he can't pass the finals, but his efforts to study are constantly thwarted by his preoccupation with sex. Even though he has agreed to remain "chaste" for the duration of the exams, Bud is bombarded with carnal messages and temptations of the flesh at every turn. Finally he can stand no more, and "gives in" in a library study room--right in front of a battery of surveillance cameras!
