A dark cloud of death descends upon a small town when a swarm of genetically modified wasps take to the sky in this sci-fi shocker featuring A Nightmare on Elm Street star Robert Englund. Devin Hall (Sebastien Roberts) has seen his fair share of hostile insects. An exterminator who specializes in ridding the world of household pests, Devin gets the fright of his life when he witnesses a homeless man attacked by a swarm of particularly aggressive wasps. Convinced that something sinister is afoot, the rattled exterminator enlists the aid of new Deputy Sheriff Jane Kozik (Sarah Allen) and associate professor of entomology Katherine Randall (Jayne Heitmeyer) in stopping the swarm before it gets stronger. Later, when Jane's curious daughter Kelsey strikes up a conversation with eccentric wasp keeper Eli (Englund), an already troubling situation becomes absolutely terrifying. It seems that the mutant wasps are turning their victims into drones. Is there any hope of stopping this government-created weapon before everyone in Black Stone becomes human incubators for the next wave, or has the initial swarm already grown too powerful to defeat by conventional means? ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide

In her efforts to prove his innocence, Michael's over-protective mother Sandra (Tracy Nelson) succeeds only in uncovering evidence that effectively indicts her son. But Sandra is not about to let anything get in the way of her belief that Michael has been wrongfully accused -- certainly not the man handling the case for the cops, Detective Bruning (Bruce Boxleitner). A hero finds himself fighting a new enemy in a world he hardly recognizes in this tongue-in-cheek sci-fi thriller. Matthew Blackheart (Rob Bogue) was a man-made superhero created by Allied scientists during World War II to help in the fight against the Nazi menace. However, Blackheart was put into cryonic suspension during the war and stayed frozen until the 21st century, when America has to deal with a new source of villainy -- Dr. Mortas (Christopher Heyerdahl), who has unleashed a plague of monsters upon the world who could destroy civilization if they're not stopped. Matthew Blackheart: Monster Smasher was intended to be the pilot for a television series; however, while the film was completed, financing for the series was pulled after only a few episodes were shot. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

A man finds himself developing a new perspective on life once he finds out it's almost over in this comedy-drama. Benjamin Kasparian (John Turturro) is a paleontologist of Armenian descent who has just split up with his wife Amanda (Katherine Borowitz). While trying to readjust to single life, Benjamin visits the doctor and is informed he's suffering from an unusual brain disease called Talbot's Syndrome, and he's not likely to live longer than five weeks. Benjamin is initially philosophical about his fate and decides to enjoy himself as much as he can in the time he has left -- much to the disgust of Amanda, his best friend (Oleg Kisseliov), his boss (Julian Richings), and his new girlfriend (Vanya Rose), all of whom believe he should be taking the matter more seriously. But before long, Benjamin starts seeing images of his childhood in Armenia everywhere he goes, and he sets out on one last mission in his life -- to dig up his late parents, who are buried in Canada, and have their remains placed in Armenian soil, where Benjamin now believes he and his family belong. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

Money and lust make a dangerous combination in this thriller. Jack Ramsey (Patrick Bergin) is a private detective hired by wealthy businessman Richard Whitmore (Daniel Pilon) to trail his wife Isabelle (Jayne Heitmeyer). Richard is convinced Isabelle is having an affair, and Jack is able to confirm those suspicions. When Isabelle's lover is found murdered, Jack thinks Richard is the most likely suspect, but Richard wants Jack to help refocus the investigation on another suspect, Vic Mulvey (Gary Busey), a radical who has been threatening blackmail against Richard and his firm. While Jack has misgivings about this, Richard has deep pockets and Jack is the owner of an empty wallet, so he goes along. The deeper Jack digs into the case, the more he runs into Isabelle, and soon the two are having an affair. However, when several of their friends and associates turn up dead, Jack has to start asking serious questions about the killer, and who the next victim will be. Director Alain Zaloum apparently worked with two of his favorite actors on Suspicious Minds; he previously cast Gary Busey in Canvas and Night Caller, while he worked with Patrick Bergin again on his subsequent film Taxman (1999). ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

Not to be confused with Steven Spielberg's sequel to Jurassic Park), this fantasy adventure (also known as Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Lost World) also centers on dinosaurs discovered in the modern world, this time in a remote part of Mongolia during the 1930s. Apparently the ancient creatures were flash-frozen millions of years ago and then thawed out. The late explorer Dr. George Challenger (Patrick Bergin) discovered them. Now his daughter, a journalist, an aging scientist, and a villain team up to prove Dr Challenger's findings. During their journey, the team encounters many fantastical things, including a tribe of Neanderthals. This feature contains a few gory scenes that may be unsuitable for young children. ~ Sandra Brennan, All Movie Guide

Sam Brady (Corbin Bernsen) is a federal District Attorney willing to do whatever it takes to get to the top, including extorting incriminating information from Mulroney (Thomas G. Waites), a corrupt police officer, in order to ruin the reputation of the son of a prominent senator. Sam is also involved with two women at once, Barbara (Jane Heitmeyer) and Genevieve (Maryam d'Abo), a situation made all the more complicated by the fact that the two women are close friends. When Sam discovers that Genevieve is pregnant with his child, he reluctantly breaks off his relationship with Barbara and asks Genevieve to marry him. However, Sam's flirtation with danger in his career and personal life has dangerous consequences when he discovers that he's being followed, and someone is using supernatural means to get their vengeance against him.
