Early in her career, the memorably alluring, statuesque actress Megyn Price could be seen in guest spots on such series as Quantum Leap and The Drew Carey Show, and as a regular on LateLine (opposite humorist Al Franken), before landing two major series roles that brought her national acclaim and recognition. She first played Claudia Finnerty on the Irish-American-themed family sitcom Grounded for Life, alongside Donal Logue and Kevin Corrigan, from 2001 to 2005. The CBS sitcom Rules of Engagement chronicled the rituals of dating, marriage and commitment, as seen through the eyes of two couples and their single friend. Former Dawson's Creek costars Adam Hudson and Biance Kajlich were respectively cast as Adam and Jennifer, who became engaged in the very first episode, much to the dismay of Adam's acerbic bachelor pal Russell, played in typical David Spade fashion by David Spade. Adam and Jennifer were subsequently befriended by Jeff (Patrick Warburton) and Audrey (Megyn Price), who after 12 years of marriage regarded themselves as experts on the subject of matrimonial harmony (though they seldom practiced what they preached!) It's all greasy spoons and low-rent ethnic eateries in the world of seasoned big-city health inspector Larry (Larry the Cable Guy), and that's just the way he likes it. After begrudgingly accepting the task of training by-the-books trainee Amy (Iris Bahr), Larry lands the biggest case of his career when a group of high-class diners fall ill following a particularly pricey meal. In this comic "Boy meets Girl" story, the Girl, in this case named Lisa (Megyn Price) has a habit of not sticking with anyone for very long. However, when she meets the Boy, here called Mike (Ken Marino), to her surprise (as well as his) Boy and Girl hit it off. Lisa has a friend (Jenica Bergere) who encourages her to stick with Mike, while Mike has a friend (Ryan Bollman) who is tired of his best buddy not being able to hang out with him because he'd rather be with a beautiful woman. However, the real fly in the ointment is that Mike also has a girlfriend (Elizabeth Lackey) who happens to be away when Boy and Girl meet. Will Mike chose to stick with his new flame, go back to his older infatuation, or forget both of them and go grab a brew with his pals? This just in: Nightline meets The Mary Tyler Moore Show in Lateline, an ensemble TV sitcom about a late-night news-and-issues series with a show-within-a-show format, incorporating real-life guests and using digital time updates and video to contrast "on-air" scenes with the filmed footage of the main story. Al Freundlich (Al Franken) is a correspondent on the latenight Lateline, a series headed by the somewhat sinister executive producer Vic Karp (Miguel Ferrer), with the help of sharp producer Gale Ingersoll (Megyn Price), assistant Mona (Catherine Lloyd Burns), witty guest booker Briana (Sanaa Lathan), intern Raji (Ajay Naidu), and anchorman Pearce McKenzie (Robert Foxworth). Al Franken (Saturday Night Live) and John Markus (Cosby Show) are the creators and executive producers, with Andy Ackerman (Seinfeld) producing and directing. Variety praised Lateline as "sly, edgy, spirited, charmingly cynical and populated by a bevy of lovable eccentrics who don't treat a punch line like a medicine ball." Drew (Drew Carey) is promised a promotion if he will agree to train Mr. Bell's lazy, duplicitious nephew Blaine (Michael Landes) for an executive position. Alas, not only does Blaine slough off his responsibilities to an overworked Mimi (Kathy Kinney), but he also gets Kate (Christa Miller) in trouble by blabbing that she accidentally sold a $2000 bottle of perfume for only $150, and that Drew tried to cover up the gaffe. First, his boss Mr. Bell is forced to hire the repulsive Mimi (Kathy Kinney) as his assistant lest she sue the store for Drew's alleged harrassment (Drew had initially turned her down for a job because he thought her attitude stank--which it did!) Second, our hero falls for Lisa Robbins (Katey Selverstone) in her series debut), who'd be perfect for a window-dresser job--and a perfect girlfriend for Drew, except that the store has a Draconian policy against employees dating each other.
