Ed Deline (James Caan), smooth-talking and fast-acting head of security at the Montecito Resort & Casino, continues commandeering his highly efficient staff of subordinates throughout season two of the NBC dramatic series Las Vegas. Things get under way with a happy reunion, as team member Danny McCoy (Josh Duhamel) returns after a year's military service in the Iraq war -- but happiness turns to concern and doubt on the part of Danny's lover, Mary Connell (Nikki Cox), and very close friend Sam Marquez (Vanessa Marcil) due to his erratic behavior. In addition, Sam is on the outs with Ed's daughter, Delinda (Molly Sims), who in turn has developed a more than professional interest with new security-team member Leo (Eric Dane) -- who, incidentally, may not last the season. Also, Nessa Holt (Marsha Thomason) once again finds herself the reluctant object of suicidal billionaire Fred Puterbaugh's (Jon Lovitz) attention, and later receives word that her father might be alive and that Ed has known this all along. Ed himself is framed for murder early on, with Danny and Mike Cannon (James Lesure) working overtime to clear himself; and when in a later episode Ed is kidnapped, it's the same two guys to the rescue again. Geoff Stults shows up as the childhood sweetheart of Delinda, who claims to have terminal cancer -- and whose "dying wish" is to sleep with his former flame. Sam, Nessa, Delinda, and Mary become roommates, a situation fraught with imminent disaster. And Danny is stuck with caring for the infant daughter of a fellow Marine.
Plus, when Danny and Mary slip off for a weekend vacation, rumors fly that they've become man and wife. Sam sets her sights on a handsome billionaire (Dean Cain) -- only to find out that her dream lover is her highly unreliable "ex." To keep his staff from getting too big for their britches, Ed switches everyone's jobs around so that they can see what it's like to walk in someone else's designer shoes. Sam is scrutinized by the FBI when she becomes innocently involved in a drug cartel. And in a crossover episode with the NBC "procedural" drama Crossing Jordan, Jordan Cavanaugh (Jill Hennessy) and Woody Hoyt (Jerry O'Connell) arrive in Vegas to investigate a gambler's murder. Given the series' locale, it is no surprise that there is a full complement of guest stars during season two. Among these are Clint Black, Michael Bublé, Snoop Dogg, Duran Duran, Paul Anka, Sylvester Stallone, Joe Rogan, Don Knotts, Ashanti, Jon Bon Jovi, and John Elway. The second season of Vegas ends as the Montecito is purchased by a new, mysterious owner -- an event that promises a major shakeup of personnel (and, possibly, the series' premise) when season three rolls around. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

Sydney (Jennifer Garner) believes that computer wonk-turned-spy Marshall Flinkman (Kevin Weisman) is safely ensconced in CIA headquarters. In truth, however, Marshall has been captured and is being tortured by a bespectacled interrogator (Ric Young) who is determined to retrieve the Echelon Satellite code that Marshall has committed to memory. Once she realizes how much danger her co-worker is in, Sydney teams with Dixon (Carl Lumbly) for a daring escape plan. And back at SD-6's Credit Dauphine headquarters, Alliance counterintelligence head Ariana Kane (Faye Dunaway) revokes Jack's (Victor Garber) security clearance, part of an effort to link Jack with a murder and an extortion plot. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
No sooner has the stylish action-adventure series Las Vegas launched its first season than Big Ed DeLaine (James Caan), head of security for Vegas' Montecito Resort & Casino, begins to question the wisdom of hiring former Marine Danny McCoy (Josh Duhamel) as his second in command. This second-guessing comes about when Big Ed discovers Danny in the same bed with Ed's only daughter, Delinda (Molly Sims), who is maître d' at the A-list restaurant Mystique. While Ed and Danny try to sort out their differences, they embark on a variety of life-threatening assignments, along with the other members of the security team and Danny's lifelong friend Mary Connell (Nikki Cox), director of special events. Also lending a helping hand from time to time are a number of Montecito staffers, among them head valet/special events coordinator Mike Cannon (James Lesure), aloof pit boss Nessa Holt (Marsha Thomason), and enigmatic casino hostess Samantha Marquez (Vanessa Marcil). The security staff's responsibilities bring them in close contact with computerized cheating devices, corrupt politicians, phony psychics, (presumably) murderous magicians, high-profile boxing bouts, would-be suicides, dangerous sexual predators, contract killers, pickpockets, diamond thieves, pop divas, and, perhaps inevitably, Wayne Newton -- not to mention a not-so-inevitable meeting with Jean-Claude Van Damme. Season one ends with Danny re-upping with the Marines in order to fight in Iraq, and Mary reeling from an unpleasant reunion with her long-lost dad. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

Now convinced that Jack (Victor Garber) was telling the truth about her mother Irina's treachery, Sydney (Jennifer Garner) is warned by Vaughn (Michael Vartan) that even Jack can't be trusted. With this in mind, the rest of the episode -- involving Sydney's efforts to stop the activities of a vice cartel called the Triad in Budapest -- takes on several extra layers of significance. Upon discovering that the Triad is training children to be enemy sleeper agents, Sydney is shocked to learn the identity of the person who thought up this insidious method of indoctrination in the first place. "The Indicator" was originally scheduled to air on October 26, 2002. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
Two people are found crucified -- yes, crucified -- at the site of a safe robbery. The surviving victim insists that the perps were two Russians, but this story doesn't stand up the 15th's smell test. In another case, John Clark Jr. (Mark-Paul Gosselaar) hopes that his friendship with a security guard will help him solve the murder of a rap star at his record-release party. Back at the squad, temporary PAA Dave Moore (Dan Bucatinsky) seems more interested in writing scripts than doing his job, John Irvin (Bill Brochtrup) returns early from Africa, and the husband of Rita Ortiz (Jacqueline Obradors) threatens a truly nasty divorce. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

In the conclusion of a two-part story, Sydney (Jennifer Garner), her father, Jack (Victor Garber), and her mother, Irina (Lena Olin), are still in Pakistan, still searching for the code that will enable a group of rebels to activate half a dozen nuclear warheads. Despite Irina's protestations of good intentions, Syd and Jack still doubt her sincerity. Sure enough, Irina reverts to type by handing her family over to her villainous former ally Gerard Cuvee (Derek de Lint) -- but is this betrayal all that it appears to be? And back in the U.S., Sloane (Ron Rifkin) is blackmailed by an unknown party regarding his role in the attempted assassination of his wife, Emily. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
This suburban sitcom centers on three couples minus children, aka DINKs (double income, no kids). Onscreen labels are superimposed to define just where each couple is in its relationship: "The Veterans" are Sheri (Dedee Pfeiffer), who does facials, and architect Dean (D.W. Moffett), married for five years, in upscale Oak Park, Illinois. "The Newlyweds" are attorney Mel (James Lesure) and psychiatrist Malena (Holly Robinson Peete), who thinks she might be pregnant one month after marriage. The unmarried "Commitment-Phobics" are divorced teacher Bobbie (Tamala Jones) and restaurateur Reggie (Edafe Blackmon), Mel's brother, who doesn't want to give Bobbi the keys to his lakefront pad. It's mostly lovey-dovey, sweetness and light, as they all interact, interrelate, and confront life's little crises with an endless onslaught of half-hearted one-liners. Premiered March 17,1998 on NBC. ~ Bhob Stewart, All Movie Guide

While reluctantly working on the political campaign of his wife's boss, Brockwell (Alan Ruck), Paul (Paul Reiser) reveals that he and Jamie (Helen Hunt) are on opposite sides of the ideological fence. What follows is a maelstrom of misunderstandings (not to mention clever camera effects) involving the Buchmans, their friends Fran (Leila Kenzle) and Mark (Richard Kind), Paul's cousin Ira (John Pankow), and Ira's new sweetie Iris (Kathleen Wilhoite). ~ All Movie Guide
Elaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) makes the acquaintance of Kevin (Tim DeKay) and his friends, who turn out to be the "bizarro" versions of Jerry, George, and Kramer (and catch that unicycle). As for the genuine articles: Jerry (Jerry Seinfeld) is bothered by the "man hands" of his girlfriend. George (Jason Alexander) earns passage to the "Forbidden City," hangout of all the beautiful supermodels. And Kramer (Michael Richards) is labeled "TCB" when he starts working in the office building where he had previously used the bathroom facilities. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
Glory-grabbing Detective Solomon (Gordon Clapp) is foiled when Simone (Jimmy Smits) unearths the evidence needed to interrogate a suspected serial killer. After the armored-car heist is thwarted, Fancy (James McDaniel) -- with the grudging assistance of snitch Greco (Joe Pantoliano) -- confronts Commander Haverell (James Handy) with irrefutable evidence of Haverell's corruption. And Martinez (Nicholas Turturro) and Lesniak (Justine Miceli) realize with startling suddenness that they are more than just friends and co-workers. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
