The rich and beautiful leader of South Beach University's most elite sorority concocts a sexy scheme to cash in on her sisterhood's newfound fame in a raunchy college comedy starring Paris Hilton. The Gamma Gammas have been voted the hottest sorority in the country by FHM, and now their leader, Victoria English (Hilton), is determined to take full advantage of the positive publicity. Only girls of Victoria's caliber can aspire to Gamma Gamma status, so what better way to solidify their influence over Greek culture than to take part in a photo shoot with one of the most popular men's magazines in the country? As the photo shoot draws near, however, it soon becomes undeniably clear that Victoria is more interested in furthering her own clandestine agenda than getting good press for Gamma Gamma. Simon Rex co-stars in a National Lampoon comedy that's as rowdy as Animal House, only ten times sexier. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide

Join Jason "Wee Man" Acuna and Laban Pheidias as they carve a swath of chaos through the heartland of America in this look at the wilder side of life that makes Jackass look like Candid Camera. Playfully laying waste to anyone and anything that stands in their path, Acuna and Pheidias prove that idiocy is certainly not a lost art form by combining skateboarding and stupidity with predictably hilarious results. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide
So just how far would you go to make out with the dreamboat in high school who would never talk to you? That's the all-important question for the protagonist of this very dark independent comedy. Dale Spitler (Nathan Bexton) is a mild-mannered, slightly nerdy high school student who sometimes works as a babysitter for Darlene Murphy (Sherrie Rose), a single mother raising an annoying but cute eight-year-old daughter, Dustine (Jessica Stone). Darlene makes it very (but very) clear to Dale that she has the hots for him, but Dale is gay, and only has eyes for Raymond Haver (Jason Hall), the hunky but thick-headed (and extremely heterosexual) captain of the wrestling team. One day, while Dale is looking after Dustine (and trying to find Darlene's stash of Playgirl magazines), his best friend Violet Wertsema (Diva Zappa) arrives in a panic -- it seems she was involved in an accident with a pickup truck, which led to the truck bursting into flames. Dale and Violet arrive at the scene of the accident, where Dale discovers that the driver of the ruined truck was none other than Raymond. Raymond has not survived the wreck, but Dale wonders if this might provide the opportunity for a romantic encounter with Raymond that never could have occurred while the wrestler was alive. Play Dead was shown in competition at the 2001 Slamdance Film Festival. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

Jonathan Blank (Sex, Drugs, & Democracy) directed this satirical slap at the media, centered around a reverend (Alan Thicke) who objects to public-access station Channel 69, where his daughter (Jessica Hecht) and other young radicals program such shows as Conspiracy of the Week. The reverend's solution is to buy the station and kick everyone out. They retaliate with protests and a fake bomb threat, barricading themselves in the studio to stage telecasts minus clothing. This film features one of the last film appearances of the late Timothy Leary. Shown at the 1998 Cinequest San Jose Film Festival. ~ Bhob Stewart, All Movie Guide

- Jonathan Penner, Jessica Hecht, (more)
Oprah Winfrey co-produced this psychological drama, a TV movie remake of the acclaimed black-and-white low-budget ($180,000) 1962 David and Lisa. The original earned $1 million in its first run and also earned Oscar nominations for director Frank Perry and screenwriter Eleanor Perry, who adapted the story from the case history by Theodore Isaac Rubin. The script for the remake is credited to director Lloyd Kramer, Eleanor Perry, and Rubin. Emotionally disturbed teenager David (Lukas Haas), a genius with a fear of being touched, is taken by his mother to an institution where he encounters compassionate psychiatrist, Dr. Jack Miller (Sidney Poitier) and free-spirited teen Lisa (Brittany Murphy), who speaks in rhyme. Although Miller makes a supreme effort with David, it's Lisa who succeeds in reaching out to David and making contact with him, quelling his demons with love. The remake relocates the story from the East Coast to the West Coast, where it was filmed in Los Angeles locations (Venice, Los Feliz). The telepic premiered November 1, 1998 on ABC. When this remake was filmed, Rubin was still a practicing psychiatrist in New York at the age of 75. ~ Bhob Stewart, All Movie Guide
