A bored housewife whose sex life has become all too routine is drawn to a lusty stranger with a knack for living life on the edge in an erotic thriller that pushes the limits of intimacy and morality. Gabe is a man stuck in the dying throws of a failing relationship, and upon meeting Irene, he instinctively invites the sexy but married woman to join him for dinner at a lavish mansion. Though she reluctantly agrees, the pair immediately hits it off and Irene readily agrees to a second date. Noting Irene's surprise that their second dinner together is taking place at a modest suburban home, Gabe mischievously admits to having broken in to both abodes for their illicit encounters. Though Irene is at first shocked back into the arms of her husband by Gabe's strange revelation, the idea of sex with Gabe in a series of strange settings soon finds her joining her lover for a series of risky rendezvous. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide

Jake McCrory (Marty Maguire) is a hired killer who, as part of a routine assignment, poses as a salesman and murders a man in his doorway, while the victim's young daughter, Anna, watches nearby. One of the victim's associates shoots Jake, and as Jake is tugged between life and death, he is visited by the spirit of the man he's just killed, asking him to keep an eye on Anna, who is now an orphan. Jake survives his wounds, and while he doesn't turn his back on his deadly profession, he also tries to honor his pledge to make sure Anna is being well cared for by her uncle. Years later, Anna (Charis Michaelson) is an adult in her early twenties, and Jake is still following her from a safe distance, which strikes Jake's wife Kelly (Sandi Carroll) as an obsession that has grown unhealthy. But Jake is not aware that Anna still carries a deep hatred of the man who killed her father and has been trying to persuade Timmy (Robert Wahlberg), the gunman who nearly killed Jake years ago, to finish the job. Jake, however, wants to confess his crime to Anna, hoping he can find some sort of redemption in coming clean. Orphan was the first feature film from director Richard Moos. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

The inventive and prolific Bill Plymton (The Tune, Mondo Plympton) scripted, directed, and animated this 73-minute Italtoons animated feature. Newlyweds Grant and Kelly encounter an ongoing parade of surreal situations after energy eruptions from a TV satellite dish raises a lobe on the back of Grant's neck. The lobe makes any fantasy come true, heightening the couple's sexual experiences, but media mogul Larson Giles wants the lobe in order to control TV viewers. Heading Giles' army is Colonel Ferguson, who also desires the lobe for himself. Grant turns Ferguson into a lizard and renders the soldiers helpless so they begin shooting sandwiches instead of missiles. Kelly and Grant flee as the violence escalates. Shown at 1997 film festivals (Toronto, Palm Springs, Sundance). ~ Bhob Stewart, All Movie Guide
