In the made-for-TV First Target, Daryl Hannah stars as feisty and combative U.S. Secret Service agent Alex McGregor, a role created by Mariel Hemingway in the earlier TV movie First Daughter. This time around, Alex finds herself attempting to prevent the assassination of the President of the United States in a "wide open" Washington State national park. Offering assistance every step of the way is Alex's fiancé, Grant Carlson (Doug Savant), who might otherwise be neglected altogether by the understandably preoccupied heroine. Boasting gorgeous scenery (it was filmed in British Columbia) and a particularly cunning villain, First Target was originally telecast over TBS on October 15, 2000. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

In this romantic comedy, two guys who've discovered Age 30 in their rear-view mirror try to unravel the mysteries of life and love in beautiful Saskatchewan. Sam (Michael Goorjian) is a guy in his late 20s who is looking for the woman of his dreams but isn't having much luck. His best friend Jim (David Lovgren) isn't nearly as fussy as Sam; he'll take a chance on any woman that seems moderately attractive, especially ones that Sam has expressed an interest in. Sam likes to pass himself off as a moody intellectual, but this act doesn't get him very far with Kelly (Chandra West), an insurance investigator who seems a bit flaky on the surface but soon works her way into Sam's heart. However, Jim, true to form, has to make a play for her as well. Jennifer Beals appears in a supporting role as a waitress who gives Sam lessons in how to sound deep and pretentious. Something More was shot in 1997, but it didn't emerge from the editing room until 1999 for its initial Canadian release. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

The ad copy for this ABC TV movie (part of the network's "Crimes of Passion" series) pretty much says it all: "Lying. Manipulation. Murder. The Things We Do For Love." Police detective Rick Barrish (Greg Evigan) is enmeshed in a sordid love triangle with his female partner Dusty (Alexandra Powers) and his mysterious new fiancée Laura Trevelyn (Brenda Bakke). At the same time, Barrish is piecing together the distrurbing clues--and following the trail of corpses--involved in a major heroin case. The two separate plot strands are inextricably intertwined as the story races to a truly unexpected climax. Based on a novel by a former Miami crime reporter, Edna Buchanan's Nobody Lives Forever originally aired March 26, 1998. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
