This Danish film explores the same vein as the very similar movie, The Office Christmas Party, and concerns the shenanigans and misdeeds of a crew of otherwise straitlaced factory workers and their bosses during their once-a-year summer picnic at Copenhagen's Deer Park. After an increasingly riotous and strenuously drunken day, miraculously, everyone shows up for work the next day none the worse for wear. ~ Clarke Fountain, Rovi

The sledge-hammer approach is evident in this comedy in which popular Danish comedians Dirch Passer, Jørgen Ryg and Preben Kaas play has-been actors plotting a bank heist that includes tunnelling through Copenhagen's main railway station. Being actors, albeit out-of-work ones, the three don a series of more-or-less comical disguises in order to fool the local gendarmerie. Non Danes might have trouble warming up to gap-toothed Passer, the country's foremost comic of his day, and it is frankly hard to believe that this cinematic whale was created by the same director who won an Academy Award ten years later for Babette's Feast (1987). ~ Hans J. Wollstein, Rovi

This Danish farce recounts the amazing events surrounding Lenin's 1917 trip from Swiss exile, via private railroad car, to Russia and revolution. That trip, arranged by Germany's General Ludendorff, was but one of that country's surprising end-of-the-war stratagems. In the film, Lenin has to fend off a variety of female anarchists and spies in order to reach his destination. ~ Clarke Fountain, Rovi

During a trip to the wild forests of Sweden, amateur botanist Vilhelm (Jørgen Ryg) captures on a photograph what may be a troll. The picture creates a sensation in his home country of Denmark, and a group of scientists is shipped to Sweden to investigate. The "troll" turns out to be kittenish, blond Lone Hertz (an actress who was either loved or completely dismissed), decked out a la "Puck" in A Midsummer Night's Dream. Apparently a satire on yellow journalism, the film was a major flop for director Knud Leif Thomsen, who put the blame squarely on reactionary reviewers. ~ Hans J. Wollstein, Rovi

In this oddball farce, Mr. S is completely fed up with the efforts of his overly protective government to shield him and his countrymen from all the viscissitudes of life and decides that he wishes to commit suicide. In order to do the job properly, he enrolls in something known as the School for Suicide, a state-run institution. This bizarre outfit then evaluates him in humorous ways for his "normalcy," and he eventually emerges with the proper credentials from the state which will permit him to do himself in. ~ Clarke Fountain, Rovi
