Les Charlots Movies
This slapdash comedy is the first in ten years featuring the chaos-provoking talents of the Charlots, who, according to legend, are a group of men who came together while on military service together. In fact, they are a group of comics responsible for at least four other silly movies which (along with this one) fall into the "guilty pleasures" category. In the story, Antonio returned to Portugal ten years ago with his lovely (and quite thin) French wife. She has since become quite a hefty specimen of womanhood, and his eye has lately been wandering to others. When his strong-tempered wife catches him with another woman (their neighbor), she bonks him on the head. In order to avoid further embarrassment, he pretends this has induced amnesia. He does so well in his pretense that his worried wife calls his old Parisian buddies (the rest of the Charlots) and asks them to come and help revive his memory. ~ Clarke Fountain, All Movie Guide

Les Charlots, a French comedy/music troupe, caper through this James Bond spoof. Responding to news that the real James Bond is dead, the French offer the services of the inept foursome, members of France's secret service. The British Queen (Huguette Funfrok) has been kidnapped and taken to Hong Kong by a besotted American millionaire (Mickey Rooney). The Charlots quickly find a charwoman to be the Queen's stand-in (Huguette Funfrok) and perform her public duties while they track down the real monarch. Along the way, they manage to do major damage to Buckingham Palace, and fight the evildoers in Hong Kong. ~ Clarke Fountain, All Movie Guide

This French slapstick comedy stars the musician/comedian foursome Les Charlots, as valets to the Four Musketeers. One of the film's highlights is a mutual kicking session between Cardinal Richelieu, the King, and a monk. This comedy foursome was enormously popular in 1970s France, and they made a huge number of films during that period. ~ Clarke Fountain, All Movie Guide

Les Charlots romp onto the screen again in this French comedy, which has the comic musicians serving as soldiers who actively support a peasant family who are resisting forced eviction by the army. Among other conflicts they have with their long-suffering sergeant is that he thinks their hair is much too long. ~ Clarke Fountain, All Movie Guide

- Les Charlots, Jacques Seiler, (more)
This is one of the seemingly innumerable French comedies made in the early '70s featuring the musicians-turned-comedians, Les Charlots. They play a group of inept but good-hearted fellows who help a small market owner compete with a large supermarket across the street by shoplifting enough from the big store to enable the smaller store to carry on. The store owner is able to re-do his little store and, though it offers little competition to the larger one, he is bought out for a lot of money. Highlights include a motorcycle chase and several songs. ~ Clarke Fountain, All Movie Guide

Their previous two films made the Charlots, a French jazz and rock ensemble, a successful comedy troupe. In this film the bumbling quartet demolish a bullfight, a lovely vamp's house and the yacht they have gotten jobs on. ~ Clarke Fountain, All Movie Guide

- Les Charlots, Jacques Legras, (more)
This broad French comedy emulates the much-better film A Hard Days Night in casting the Charlots, a French popular music group, to carry the story about a zany group of cut-ups who are drafted into military service. ~ Clarke Fountain, All Movie Guide

- Les Charlots, Marion Game, (more)
This madcap film follows the exploits of the popular French jazz and rock group "Les Charlots," as they move with style and charm from one amusing situation after another, somewhat after the manner of the Beatles in Hard Day's Night. ~ Clarke Fountain, All Movie Guide
