Three female friends separate and spend two decades leading very different lives in this engaging drama that falters slightly only in its ending. Isabel (Dora Baret) is a doctor with a clinic in a remote, impoverished area of the country. After her husband is killed in an accident, the very pregnant Isabel asks her two long-absent friends to come for a visit. One of the women is married to a wealthy man and moves in the elite circles of Buenos Aires, the other is married to an average Joe. After the three get together, they quickly come to the obvious realization that they are all strong-willed and in serious disagreement. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, All Movie Guide

The hunt for a large, precious black pearl located off the coast of Baja California provides the basis of this youthful adventure. Though a relatively simple dive is required, the young hero must first contend with the giant, protective manta ray that guards the treasure. ~ Sandra Brennan, All Movie Guide
The story of this Spanish film revolves around the corpse of a woman, Esther (Judy Matheson), whose body parts are sent in numerous packages to a horrified and puzzled print editor (Carlos Estrada). He is also sent a dead turtle, which must mean something. The packages are sent as a form of psychological torture, part of an elaborate revenge scheme by the dead woman's lesbian lover (Capucine). The editor, at one time, had a relationship with Esther which he ended rather harshly. Given that she was suicidal, the break-up apparently sent her over the edge. Though this film has some of the gruesome and bizarre imagery appropriate to a horror-fest, it is a thriller/melodrama. ~ Clarke Fountain, All Movie Guide

Writer/director Paul Czinner, who in 1936 adapted Shakespeare's As You Like It to the screen, was the guiding force behind the 1966 feature Romeo and Juliet. Unlike Czinner's earlier Shakespeare film, however, not a word of the Bard's text is spoken in the 1966 production. Rather, this is a filmed record of a performance of Prokofiev's ballet version of Romeo and Juliet, as originally presented at the Royal Opera House. The stars are the matchless Rudolf Nureyev and Margot Fonteyn, who brilliantly overcome the disappointingly bland choreography of Kenneth McMillan. For the benefit of non-ballet aficionados, each of the production's three acts is introduced by a spoken synopsis. Others in the corps de ballet include David Blair as Mercutio, Desmond Doyle as Tybalt, Gerd Larsen as Nurse and Ronald Hynd as Friar Lawrence. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

The English title of this Shakespeare adaptation is Juliet and Romeo, according the heroine top billing for the first time in history. Its Spanish title, evidently concocted to obscure its literary roots, was Los Amentes de Verona. Directed by costume-spectacle "regular" Riccardo Freda, the film stars Gerald Meynier and Rosemarie Dexter as Shakespeare's star-crossed lovers. Freda adapted the original text to make room for his usual stylistic grace notes -- not to mention his characteristic spurts of violence. Filmed in 1964, Giulietta e Romeo was distributed in the U.S. in 1968, most likely to cash in on the popularity of the recently released Franco Zeffirelli version. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

Carlos Estrada plays a bank employee who suffers a tremendous loss after his wife dies, so he calls on his sister-in-law Tula (Aurora Bautista) to care for the children and manage the household affairs. She lovingly cares for the children, and Carlos finds himself falling for her. Although Tula does not feel the same way, she often takes to criticizing him when he expresses any interest in other women.
