An unusually heavy rainstorm brings a inordinate amount of "traffic" into the ER. Outside the doors of the hospital, Weaver (Laura Innes) and a nervous, inexperienced Gallant (Sharif Atkins) risk electrocution from downed power lines to save a pregnant woman and her unborn baby. Inside, Greene (Anthony Edwards) treats a young boy whose brother was swept into a river. Carter's (Noah Wyle) grandmother, brought into the ER after sustaining injuries in a hit-and-run, begins hallucinating. Nicole (Julie Delpy), the troubled young girl befriended by Kovac (Goran Visnjic), may be stealing personal items from the staff. Onetime Playboy Playmate Shannon Tweed stars in this sexually tinged legal thriller. When exotic dancer Virginia Hill (Kirstine Carlstrand) is found murdered in her home, the first suspect is millionaire David Mulholland (Corbin Timbrook), who owns the strip club where she worked. He was at her house the night that she died, and by his own admission, they both enjoyed rough sex, with David often posing as an intruder who had come to rape her. John Doherty (Myles O'Brien), the detective assigned to the case, is keen on a speedy conviction, partially as a way of silencing talk about allegations of internal corruption. But Mulholland insists he's innocent and hires the best trial attorney available - Maureen Doherty (Shannon Tweed), who on top of her legal skills happens to be John's ex-wife; they did not part on amicably, and Maureen seems pleased at the prospect of making John look bad in court. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

A hidden well of gay-lesbian culture comes bubbling to the surface of a small Western town in this independent comedy/drama. In the Texas town of Azalea Springs, life for the most part still seems stuck in the 1950s; the women have big hair, they join the Junior League, and they don't buck the status quo. Also, homosexuality is something that just isn't talked about, so many of the townspeople are shocked when Hope House, a hospice for AIDS patients, opens in their little town. Alexandra "Alex" Stratton (Keri Jo Chapman), who is stuck in an unhappy marriage with her boorish husband Robert (Matthew S. Thompkins) and has an overbearing and prejudiced mom, Lily Talbot (Barbara Lasater), decides to volunteer at the hospice, which scandalizes most of the other ladies of the League. Alex soon discovers that her best friend from high school, Grace Miller (Teresa Garrett), is working there as a nurse; Grace recently went through a difficult divorce when her husband discovered that Grace was having an affair with one of her co-workers...who happened to be female. Alex soon finds herself looking at Grace in a new way, and friendship gives way to something much deeper. Meanwhile, Spencer (John Hallum), a very out-of-the-closet friend of Alex's, begins joking with people that homosexuality is being spread by something in the town's water supply. With Alex and Grace's affair the hot item in the town's gossip mill and newspaperman Mark (Derrick Sanders) falling in love with artist Thomas (Timothy Vahle), this witticism finds its way to many gullible ears, and fire and brimstone preacher Brother Daniel (John Addington) forms "Homo-No-Mo," a support group for gay men who want to return to the straight and narrow, so to speak. Ray (Tim Vahle) has just returned from college to run a Native-American ski lodge. A laid-back place where employees' children play in the lobby and the handyman has a habit of macking on guests, the lodge isn't exactly four-star travel guide material. So when Ray learns that a travel guide representative is coming to make an inspection, he makes an executive decision to make the lodge a professional place of business. In addition to keeping his father, who happens to be the hotel's former manager, out of his way, he also has to contend with his somewhat eccentric staff, which includes an emotional vegetarian chef (Graham Greene) who takes a certain pleasure in informing his diners of the names he has given the animals they're eating. Despite Ray's exhaustive preparations, something, of course, goes wrong: something that, in this case, turns out to be a case of mistaken identity: when Tina, a comely Mohawk woman, shows up at the lodge, Ray assumes her to be the representative, and sets about giving her the royal treatment while the actual representative (M. Emmet Walsh) is ignored and must contend with a hefty dose of hotel mismanagement.
