Maria Schell guest stars as a East European nun who arrives in New York accompanied by a countryman named Toza (Herb Edelman). In truth, the "nun" is a Yugoslavian princess named Viva Dushan, and Toza is her faithful general factotum. The two emigres are determined to recover a fortune in jewels stolen from the Princess during WW2, and they are convinced that the gems are in the possession of big-time mobster Vitto Colletti (Harry Goz). Inevitably, Kojak (Telly Savalas) must see to it that justice is done through the proper channels--and that the Princess survives the intrigue. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
While Kojak (Telly Savalas) is following up several false leads in the bombing of a Manhattan restaurant, one of his detectives, Jeff Braddock (Joseph Mascolo), would seem to have inside information on the crime. Unfortunately, Braddock is unable to tell Kojak or anyone else what he knows. It seems that among those killed in the bombing was his mistress Gretchen Hodges (Judith Chapman)--and there is a strong likelihood that Braddock's own wife Molly (Fionnuala Flanagan), who suffers from mental illness, was responsible for the tragedy. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
This breathlessly paced high-tech thriller stars Sean Connery as Anderson, a career criminal who's just been released from his latest prison term. Seeking a quick financial turnover, Anderson uses mob funding to finance an ambitious robbery. With a gang of expert thieves, Anderson sets about to rob every wealthy tenant of a fancy East Side apartment building. What he doesn't know is that every move he makes is being monitored and taped by several law-enforcement agencies, who hope that Anderson will lead them to the Mob kingpins. Though the film may look like a "comment" on the Watergate break-in, The Anderson Tapes actually preceded that third-rate burglary by nearly two years. The Anderson Tapes boasts an impressive supporting cast, many of whom play wildly against type, including Alan King as an aging and infirm Mafia don. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
