Former Legends of the Hidden Temple host Kirk Fogg goes from Nickelodeon game show to gritty street thriller as the director and star of this stylish mystery about a drug-addicted, former undercover cop searching for his missing girlfriend in the dangerous Los Angeles underworld. Porter (Fogg) has just been involved in a drug deal gone horribly awry, and now he and girlfriend Rachel (Sarah Lahti) are attempting to lie low in a warehouse currently being used as a porno studio. When Porter learns that Rachel has cut a deal with the sleazy producer who runs the studio in order to bankroll the couple's flight from the city, he shamefully numbs himself with drugs as Rachel turns tricks in front of the camera for cash. Later, Porter makes a hazed-out attempt to prevent his girlfriend from completely debasing herself that ends with him blacking out and being left for dead on the banks of the L.A. River. Though he attempts to go to the police in hopes that they will help him locate Rachel, the officers all know about Porter's sordid history and fail to grasp the true gravity of the situation. He was at her house the night that she died, and by his own admission, they both enjoyed rough sex, with David often posing as an intruder who had come to rape her. John Doherty (Myles O'Brien), the detective assigned to the case, is keen on a speedy conviction, partially as a way of silencing talk about allegations of internal corruption. But Mulholland insists he's innocent and hires the best trial attorney available - Maureen Doherty (Shannon Tweed), who on top of her legal skills happens to be John's ex-wife; they did not part on amicably, and Maureen seems pleased at the prospect of making John look bad in court. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

A spoof of the verite television series Cops, this low-budget, independent comedy from writer and director Beeaje Quick was an award winner for "Best of Fest" at the Long Island Film Festival. After being hassled and beat up by some LAPD officers, filmmaker Juan Pelotes (Randy Gatica) decides to get revenge by creating a mockumentary that satirizes L.A.'s boys in blue. Enlisting the aid of two Latinos just released from police custody (played by Quick and Jose Ignacio Alvarez), Pelotes costumes his stars in police uniforms and follows them around the city with a camera, recording their staged antics of bullying citizens and propositioning beautiful women. ~ Karl Williams, All Movie Guide
