Based on author Bryan Burrough's ambitious tome Public Enemies: America's Greatest Crime Wave and the Birth of the FBI, 1933-43, director Michael Mann's sprawling historical crime drama follows the efforts of top FBI agent Melvin Purvis (Christian Bale ) in capturing notorious bank robber John Dillinger. A folk hero to the American public thanks to his penchant for robbing the banks that many people believed responsible for the Great Depression, charming bandit Dillinger (Johnny Depp) was virtually unstoppable at the height of his criminal career; no jail could hold him, and his exploits endeared him to the common people while making headlines across the country. J. Edgar Hoover's (Billy Crudup) FBI was just coming into formation, and what better way for the ambitious lawman to transform his fledgling Bureau of Investigation into a national police force than to capture the gang that always gets away? Determined to bust Dillinger and his crew, which also included sociopathic Baby Face Nelson (Stephen Graham) and Alvin Karpis (Giovanni Ribisi), Hoover christened Dillinger the country's very first Public Enemy Number One, and unleashed Purvis to take them down by whatever means necessary. But Purvis underestimated Dillinger's ingenuity as a master criminal, and after embarking on a frantic series of chases and shoot-outs, the dashing agent humbly surmised that he was in over his head. Outwitted and outgunned, Purvis knew that his only hope for busting Dillinger's gang was to baptize a crew of Western ex-lawmen as official agents, and orchestrate a series of betrayals so cunning that even America's criminal mastermind wouldn't know what hit him. Marion Cotillard, Channing Tatum, and Stephen Dorff co-star. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

A Turkish special agent vows revenge against the evil American CIA agent who masterminded the humiliating raid on an undercover Turkish unit aiding the War on Terror in director Serdar Akar's controversial action film. It was July 4, 2003, when U.S. forces surrounded the headquarters of a clandestine Turkish unit operating in the northern Iraqi city of Sulaymaniyah and humiliated their partners in the War on Terror by marching out the agents with hoods over their heads before inexplicably deporting their mortified allies. Soon after detailing the harrowing event in a letter to his friend Polat (Necati Sasmaz), disgraced Turkish officer Suleyman Aslan (Tayfun Eraslan) shamefully ends his own life with one fatal shot to the head. Now determined to make the man responsible for the raid pay for his overzealous transgression, Polat rounds up loyal pals Memati (Gurkan Uygun) and Abdulhey (Kenan Coban) for a revenge mission that will take them across the border of Kurdistan and directly into the dark heart of the War on Terror. Upon arriving in Iraq to target secret CIA unit head Sam William Marshall (Billy Zane), Polat and friends watch horrified as the Christian fanatic raids a local wedding party where both the groom and a young boy are carelessly gunned down on little more than a hunch that terrorists may be seeking anonymity within the crowd. Though she is warned by her adoptive father (Ghassan Massoud), a tolerant Muslim leader, that to seek revenge against Agent Marshall would be to go against the teachings of Islam, widowed bride Leila (Berguzar Korel) is subsequently consumed by her own hunger for vengeance. In the days that follow, Polat, Memati, and Adbulhey enter into a deadly game of cat and mouse with the psychotic CIA operative that culminates with a violent confrontation in a nearby village. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

Kelsey Grammer provided the voice of the titular Gary Andrews, a slimy, amoral Manhattan attorney who in fine Kafkaesque fashion awoke one morning to find himself transformed into a six-foot rat. Gary the Rat originally premiered as part of "The Strip," a two-hour block of adult cartoon series seen on TNN after its conversion into a macho, male-oriented cable service, Spike TV. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi
