Shane (Walton Goggins) has told Vic (Michael Chiklis) everything about his dealings with Antwon (Anthony Anderson), but Lem (Kenny Johnson) still doesn't trust Shane or Army (Michael Pena). Vic decides to help Shane retrieve Angie's body, so Antwon won't have power over him, but when they look where Halpern (Laurence Mason) told them to, the body isn't there. Two patrolmen, Scooby (Robert Wu) and Carl (Jarvis W. George), go missing after responding to a domestic dispute call. Monica (Glenn Close) makes Dutch (Jay Karnes) and Claudette (CCH Pounder) the primaries on the case, but their only witness is Roger (Joel Stoffer), a mentally unstable homeless man. Aceveda (Benito Martinez) asks to take an active role in the case, and goes out on patrol with Danny (Catherine Dent), putting himself in harm's way. The bodies of the two officers are left in a house that the department has seized for the cops to find. Dutch is eventually able to locate the crime scene and a piece of jewelry apparently left behind by one of the killers. Vic's investigation into Antwon's involvement leads to nothing about the murdered cops, but he does get new information about the location of Angie's body. Lem finds out that Antwon is flying back to L.A. from Las Vegas, and Vic makes plans to intercept him before Monica can have him picked up for questioning. ~ Josh Ralske, All Movie Guide

Lem (Kenny Johnson) and Ronnie (David Rees Snell) are worried that Shane (Walton Goggins) might actually try to kill Vic (Michael Chiklis), but Vic doesn't seem too concerned. He even pays a visit to Antwon's (Anthony Anderson) house in the middle of the night and threatens him after a couple of police informants turn up dead. A local science teacher with no connection to the police is murdered in the same manner. Monica (Glenn Close) orders extra protection for all of the department's CIs. Dutch (Jay Karnes) and Claudette (CCH Pounder) investigate an assault and robbery at a gas station, which leads the observant Dutch to an unexpected run-in with the "Coffee Bandit." When Corrine (Cathy Cahlin Ryan) tells Vic that they might have to drop out of the class-action lawsuit in order for their daughter to be eligible for clinical trials of a promising new drug, he's forced to make certain financial arrangements. Aceveda (Benito Martinez) catches Sara (Abby Brammell) lying to him so she can visit another client, and he goes to great lengths to show her that, as he puts it, "I don't come second to anyone." Monica has Gino (José Zuñiga) from Internal Affairs take a closer look at Vic. Shane and Army (Michael Pena) decide to try to strong-arm Antwon's lieutenant, Halpern (Laurence Mason), in order to get out from under Antwon, but their plans go awry. ~ Josh Ralske, All Movie Guide

Ben Mercado (Dante Basco) is an 18-year-old from a Filipino-American family who is soon to graduate from high school and plans to go to art school -- though he's trying to keep this a secret from his father Roland (Tirso Cruz III), who is determined his son will become a doctor. Right now, most of the Mercado family is preoccupied with an elaborate coming-out party being thrown for Ben's sister Rose (Bernadette Balagtas), which seems to have less to do with Rose and more with Roland's desire to impress his father Lolo (Eddie Garcia). Ben isn't too thrilled about having to attend, so he invites his best friends Rick (Brandon Martin) and Doug (Jason Schaal) to fight off monotony until they can slip out unnoticed. To their surprise, Rick and Doug find themselves having a great time getting a glimpse of Filipino culture, and Ben (who is enjoying himself more than he lets on) meets Annabelle (Gina Alajar), a pretty girl who is friends with Rose. However, Ben soon discovers that Annabelle recently parted ways with her boyfriend Augusto (Darion Basco), and Augusto is still very, very jealous -- and willing to start a fight with anyone who makes a move toward "his girl." The Debut was, appropriately, the debut feature for writer and director Gene Cajayon and was enthusiastically received at the 2001 San Francisco Asian-American Film Festival. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

Add Riot in the Streets to QueueAdd Riot in the Streets to top of Queue
This off-beat urban anthology offers four different views of the mayhem and destruction that came from the 1992 Los Angeles riots. The first vignette "Gold Mountain," directed by Galen Yuen, centers on a struggle between a traditional-minded Chinese storekeeper and his increasingly uncontrollable son, who is assimilating rapidly into American ghetto life. Their relationship explodes as their store is looted during the riot. Alex Munoz's "Caught in the Fever," featuring a screenplay by the late Joe Vasquez, follows the corruption of a basically good Latino couple who get caught up in the riot's hysteria and set aside their values participate in the chaos. In "Empty" an Anglo policeman finds himself in the center of the riot alone and surrounded by angry youths who force him to take desperate measures. The final vignette, "Homecoming Day" centers upon a black man who managed to escape South Central and forge a better life for himself and his wife. The day the verdict for the Rodney King trial was announced, he goes back to the old neighborhood to see his mother, not realizing that the place will soon become a maelstrom of hatred and violence. In making this anthology, the four filmmakers created continuity by having characters from each film occasionally appear in the background of the other films. They also all utilized the same cinematographer, editor and basic crew. ~ Sandra Brennan, All Movie Guide

Add Sgt. Bilko to QueueAdd Sgt. Bilko to top of Queue
The classic 1955-59 sitcom The Phil Silvers Show (also known as "You'll Never Get Rich" in its first few episodes) became this high concept comedy with an all-star cast. Steve Martin stars as U.S. Army Master Sergeant Ernest G. Bilko, a conniving motor pool supervisor who uses his position to finance various get-rich-quick schemes, including illegal gambling, at a Kansas military base. His commanding officer, Colonel Hall (Dan Aykroyd) is mostly oblivious to Bilko's antics. Trouble arrives when the master sergeant's old rival, Major Thorn (Phil Hartman), appears. It seems that Thorn, the butt of several past Bilko capers, is eager to settle the score by spearheading a review of Bilko's records and stealing away his fiancée Rita (Glenne Headley), who may have been left at the altar one too many times. At the same time, military engineer Major Ebersole (Austin Pendleton) is testing a new high-tech "hover tank" that may not be quite ready for deployment. Directed by light comedy specialist ($Jonathan Lynn, who brought a similar touch to My Cousin Vinny (1992) and Greedy (1994), the updated Sgt. Bilko costarred Cathy Silvers, daughter of the TV show's late star, as Lieutenant Monday. ~ Karl Williams, All Movie Guide
