An uprising on a college campus evolves into something more dangerous than a clash of ideals in this drama from Canadian writer and director Sébastien Rose. Jean-Marc (Raymond Bouchard) is the president of a well-respected university in Quebec who has found himself at the center of a heated controversy. Louis-Ferdinand (Frederic Pierre) is the leader of a student activist group who have demanded sweeping changes in Jean-Marc's policies; Jean-Marc refuses to consider their proposals, leading to a series of protests which have inspired a wave of campus vandalism. Bertrand (Alexis Martin) is a professor at the university who supports the students' cause but not their methods, and when he attempts to reason with Louis-Ferdinand and his colleagues, it leads to an altercation that only makes a tense situation more difficult. Natacha (Catherine de Lean) is Jean-Marc's daughter and also a single mother with a drug problem who is still dealing with the scars of an unhappy childhood. Jean-Marc and Bertrand are scheduled to speak at a university banquet where they hope to air their differences about the ongoing student protests, but Gilbert (Benoit McGinnis) is an uninvited guest who has his own radical solution to the stand-off. An unexpected discovery in the kitchen trap of a condemned Montreal house proves the catalyst for a madcap journey into the past in this comedy that proves old homes can still contain a few shocking surprises. Upon exploring a typical Montreal house that is about to be razed, a curious building inspector finds more than he ever bargained for and immediately phones the landlord. Later, as the pair sits tight in waiting for the police to arrive, the viewer is taken on a frantic voyage through the past fifteen years of eccentric tenants and strange goings on. Quebecois actor and filmmaker Luc Picard takes the helm for this Genie Award-winning drama about an actor in search of the perfect role, and the pregnant girlfriend forced to make a life-changing decision. Forty-year old Louis (Picard) is a loud-mouthed repo-man who has nurtured a lifelong dream of becoming a successful actor. Fortunately for Louis his cousin is a casting agent, and he soon learns that local producers are seeking to fell the role of a father videotaping a final message for his two year-old son. Lately the strain of his job has been wearing not only on Louis, but his frustrated girlfriend Suzie (Suzanne Clement) as well. When Suzie discovers that she is pregnant, she immediately begins pondering the prospect of leaving Louis to raise the pair's child in a more stable environment. Though she hesitates to break the news to Louis for fear of how he will react, the news soon gets out when Louis spots Suzie showing off baby clothes to her circle of friends. A writer gets more than he bargains for when he heads to a small town in search of a scoop in this over-the-top horror comedy. Flavien Juste (François Chénier) is a young and quick-witted reporter who works for a newspaper run by his father (Pierre Collin). Dad would like to break one more big story before he retires from journalism, and when he hears about a number of bizarre disappearances taking place in the Quebec village of Saints-Martyrs-des-Damnes, he sends Flavien to check it out, with photographer Armand (Patrice Robitaille) in tow. Flavien and Armand check in at a large and forbidding local inn, the Two Malvinas Lodge, and Armand soon falls prey to the local curse and goes missing. As Flavien searches for Armand, he encounters the troubled ghost of a bride (who still has the tin cans from her getaway car stuck to her gown), and is dogged by the many bizarre denizens of Saints-Martyrs-des-Damnes as he tries to unearth the town's strange secrets. Flavien eventually gains a valuable ally in helpful local musician Missy (Isabelle Blais) and her son, Peanut (Alec Poirier), and with their help he discovers an abandoned factory on the outskirts of town where a strange scientist is up to no good. Quebec filmmaker Jean-Phillipe Duval debuted with this madcap comedy about a graduate student sucked into Montreal's criminal netherworld. Ph.D. candidate Gilles (Alexis Martin) literally runs into waitress Guylaine (Guylaine Tremblay) at the beach while he is reviewing his dissertation. The two immediately hit it off, and when he returns to his abode in Montreal he heads straight to the low-rent bar where she works. The lovebirds begin talking about the future, until Guylaine's gun-toting brother Bob (Gary Boudreault) staggers to their doorstep after getting worked over by the mob. Fearing for his life, he pleads with Gilles to deliver a message to Matroni, the big boss. On his way to hand off the note, the overly ethical Gilles has a moral crisis: the letter lists names of other soon-to-be-ex-hoods. Robert Lepage directed this Canadian comedy, filmed in black and white and color and adapted from Lepage's play The Seven Branches of the River Ota. In October 1970, Montreal actress Sophie (Anne-Marie Cadieux) appears in a Feydeau farce at the Osaka World's Fair. Back in Montreal, her boyfriend Michel (Alexis Martin) watches the October Crisis on TV and sees Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau declare the War Measures Act. The Canadian Army patrols Montreal streets. Sophie learns she's pregnant and phones Michel. However, Michel is immersed in politics, while Sophie rejects the amorous advances of her co-star (Eric Bernier), becomes friendly with a blind translator, and passes an evening with frivolous Canadian embassy official Walter (Richard Frechette) and his wife Patricia (Marie Gignac). Meanwhile, in Montreal, Michael plots terrorist activities. Commenting on East-West cultural distinctions, the film intercuts between Quebec (in black and white) and Japan (in color). Music-video director Denis Villeneuve made his feature directorial debut with this Canadian drama about an auto accident aftermath. When Simone (Pascale Bussieres) nods off at the wheel, her car goes out of control. She escapes any serious physical injury, but her life changes direction nevertheless. She cancels a planned trip to Italy, quits her modeling job, and calls her friend Philippe (Alexis Martin) with the suggestion that they have a baby together. He agrees, but only with the condition that they do it in the desert, so the two soon leave Montreal for Utah. In this romantic, sophisticated Canadian horror spoof, a family of Transylvanian vampires experiences turmoil when a daughter rebels against her arranged marriage to a Russian bloodsucker. Sick to death of bickering with her parents, Karmina, decides to fly to Montreal to find her estranged aunt Esmerelda, who has found a formula that enables her to function as a human and run a successful dating service. Esmerelda is happy to share the potion with her newfound niece. Karmina then tries to adjust to life as a mortal. Her jilted lover shows up and his determined pursuit hinders her progress.
