When successful Spanish research scientist Diego (Adria Collado) sees his spitting image get killed in a Buenos Aires car accident, he becomes convinced that the man was his long lost twin brother and sets out on a desperate search for his biological parents, in the process becoming embroiled in a vast conspiracy involving cloning and violent Russian heavies. Diego and his best friend Martin (Alfonso Lara) are watching television when they see a man who bears a striking resemblance to Diego get killed on television. Diego has long been the victim of repeated déjà vu, and now he's beginning to wonder if there may be a rational explanation for his many strange experiences. When Diego discovers that he was adopted as a young boy, he leaves his wife Susan (Lucia Jiminez) to travel to Argentina and get some answers. The situation grows increasingly complex when Diego comes into contact with the dead man's parents, who claim that their son was adopted as well. Ageing alcoholic Malcolm (Jose Maria Pau) may have just the answers they are searching for, but when he questions Diego about his wife Susan, Diego wonders how a the man could even know of his wife's existence. Spanish writer-director Emilio Martínez Lazáro's bawdy musical comedy romance Both Sides of the Bed (Los Dos Lados de la Cama, 2006) constitutes a sequel to that director's earlier musical The Other Side of the Bed (AKA El Otro Lado de la Cama, 2002). Just as that first film plays out the farcical romantic shenanigans of a group of single young men and their lovers, the sequel offers more of the same, but adds greater depth to the proceedings. The story finds Javier (Ernesto Alterio) and Marta (Veronica) celebrating their pending nuptials in a nightclub, on the evening before their wedding. They are accompanied by two friends romantically involved with one another, Pedro (Guillermo Toledo) and the chanteuse Raquel (Lucia Jimenez). The plans of each couple are soon undone by Marta's hesitation - the product of her undeclared lesbianism and carnal involvement with Raquel (evident when the women quietly slip off to the ladies' room and have intercourse). A third friend, Carlota (Pilar Castro), happens to stumble onto the women making it, but says nothing to the boys. The next morning, Marta jilts Javier, Raquel leaves Pedro, and the remainder of the film has the men gradually coming face-to-face with the girls' lesbianism, while forging a deeper bond with Carlota. Throughout the film, Lazáro laces his picture with bubble-gum music (predominantly breezy 1970s and 1980s Spanish pop hits) and electric choreography, performed by an ensemble of twenty dancers. In the wake of the Spanish Civil War, a number of the Republican guerillas who fought against Franco's fascist army went into hiding and continued their battle as resistance fighters hiding out in the mountain ranges of Spain; this drama offers a glimpse of life in a rural Spanish community under Franco's rule as the "Maquis" plot their next move in their battle against Franco. It's 1944, and Lucia (Lucia Jimenez) arrives in a small town to take a job at a tavern run by her aunt Teresa (Mercedes Sampietro). Politically, the community is torn between those who have retained their loyalty to the former Republican leadership and those who have embraced fascism under Franco. Lucia becomes fast friends with Lola (Maria Botto), a local girl whose brother Manuel (Juan Diego Botto) is a blacksmith with ties to the Maquis. As Lucia falls in love with Manuel, the Maquis come out of hiding and stage a raid on the town, freeing a number of Republicans who have been jailed for their support of the old regime; as one might expect, this attracts the attention of Franco's Civil Guard, which quickly sets out to neutralize Manuel and the rebels. A man studying to be a writer learns some unpleasant lessons about himself in this drama. Alfonso (Giovanni Ciccia) is an aspiring novelist who, as part of his scholarship to a writing program, must take an internship at a tabloid newspaper alongside his girlfriend Nadia (Lucia Jimenez). While Nadia is given a simple office assignment, Alfonso is made an assistant to one of the paper's top writers, Faundez (Gianfranco Brero), which turns out to be a demanding job. With his driver Van Gogh (Carlos Gassols) and his photographer Escalona (Fele Martinez), Faundez heads out each day to collect stories through intimidation and emotional manipulation, and he has no qualms about using sources for his own purposes or passing along stories to his less-industrious significant other, Roxanna (Ynonne Frayssinet). While Alfonso is appalled by Faundez's shaky ethics and cavalier attitude toward women, it also begins to sink in, and when circumstances force Alfonso to take over for Faundez for a while, he's surprised to discover how much he's come to resemble the man he despises. Peruvian director Francisco J. Lomvbardi made this Spanish-Peruvian drama adapted from Jaime Bayly's novel about life in Lima as seen by an upper-class homosexual youth. Sensitive Joaquin, caught between his overprotective, religious mother (Carmen Elias) and his macho father (Hernan Romero), leaves home to study law. A romance ripens between Joaquin and college student Alejandra (Lucia Jimenez). Her friend Rocio (Lita Baluarte) is scheduled to marry secretly gay Gonzalo (Christian Meier). Joaquin begins a series of trysts with Gonzalo, eventually leaving Alejandra, dropping out of law school, and turning to drugs and sex with wealthy Alfonso (Giovanni Ciccia) before departing for Miami.
