Hulk Hogan Movies

One of the most popular professional wrestlers of all time, Hulk Hogan was born Terrence Bollea in 1953. Raised in Florida, Hogan gained an early interest in music, playing guitar and bass in a number of rock bands in the Florida area during his early adult life. After a brief stint at the University of South Florida, he became more interested in body building, and followed a friend's suggestion to try his hand at pro wrestling. By the early '80s, Hogan had won an NWA championship and become involved with the WWF, where he soon became one of the most popular figures in professional wrestling. He also appeared in the movie Rocky III in 1982.

Hogan's wrestling career would continue through the '80s, '90s, and 2000s, and during that time he also explored other mediums, popping up in movies like Suburban Commando and Mr. Nanny, and even recording music as his pro wrestling character. He also starred with his family in a popular candid reality show called Hogan Knows Best starting in 2005, following the adventures of his eccentric household. The show starred Hogan, his wife, Linda, his son, Nick (who pursued a career in the vehicular sport of drifting), and his daughter Brooke, a burgeoning pop star. ~ Cammila Albertson, All Movie Guide

A vehicle for popular wrestling celebrity Hulk Hogan, Suburban Commando is an inoffensive science-fiction fantasy. Hogan plays Shep Ramsey, a well-sculpted if somewhat dimwitted intergalactic hero. On vacation from fighting crime on other planets, he has a fight with an alien enemy and his spaceship is damaged. He seeks refuge on Earth until his ship can be revived. Trying to look inconspicuous as an ordinary human being without special powers, he is befriended by a suburban family headed by Charlie Wilcox (Christopher Lloyd) and his wife Jenny (Shelley Duvall). Ramsey's stay isn't peaceful because he has such a keen sense of justice, which he dishes out to muggers, reckless drivers, and even smart-aleck paper carriers. In the end, he has to defend the family against his bold nemesis. ~ Michael Betzold, All Movie Guide

Wrestling becomes a forum for patriotism in the seventh episode of America's favorite pay-per-view. WWF Wrestlemania VII Superstars and Stripes forever promises a showdown between the golden haired Hulk Hogan and vilified Sgt. Slaughter. While the main draw is exciting enough, several side bouts prove equally as enthralling. The Ultimate Warrior takes on Randy Savage in what would become a classic pairing. Enduring bad boy Jake "The Snake" Roberts goes undercover in a blindfold match against Rick Martel. The Nasty Boys team up against the Hart Foundation in a championship battle. Throughout the main events there are many small yet fierce competitions, including Greg "The Hammer" Valentine versus Earthquake, and Demolition versus Tenryu and Kitao. This Gulf War Showdown has become a favorite of wrestling fans who have learned to either love it or hate it. ~ Sarah Ing, All Movie Guide

Add Gremlins 2: The New Batch to QueueAdd Gremlins 2: The New Batch to top of Queue
Where the original Gremlins was a horror film spiked with comedy, Gremlins 2: The New Batch is essentially a black comedy, with a couple of horrifying touches. As the film starts, the fantastical trinket shop in Chinatown, which sold the Mogwai in the first film, is demolished by a crazed multi-media businessman called Daniel Clamp (John Glover). The heroes from the first movie, Billy (Zach Galligan) and Kate (Phoebe Cates), happen to work for Clamp in his huge high-rise. They find the Mogwai within Clamp's building, but not before he has accidentally spawned legions of mischievous, lizard-like Gremlins. Soon, the Gremlins are wreaking havoc throughout the building. In the original film, their misdeeds were violent, but here they're also goofy and satirical. Director Joe Dante has filled the film with quick verbal and visual jokes, which, for many, makes Gremlins 2: The New Batch a satire and inversion of the typical horror film. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Movie Guide

Hulk Hogan, in an inarguably appropriate casting choice, plays a professional wrestler in this action-packed drama. Rip (Hogan) is a grappling star who is approached by Brell (Kurt Fuller), the new head of the World Television Network. Brell wants Rip to wrestle on his network, but Rip insists on honoring his commitment to another outlet. Brell responds by launching a show called "Battle of the Tough Guys," in which the beefy regulars of a particularly rough drinking establishment fight each other on camera. Zeus (Tom "Tiny" Lister, Jr.) soon emerges as the bad guy champion on this new show, and Brell uses Rip's friendship with his assistant Samantha (Joan Severance) to arrange a bout between Zeus and Rip. Rip is not at all interested until Zeus injures his brother and makes the fight a matter of personal pride. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide
