Two neighbors find they have different ideas about what's considered intrusive in this comedy from Argentine filmmakers Mariano Cohn and Gaston Duprat. Leonardo (Rafael Spregelburd) is an industrial designer with a passion for architecture, and the pride and joy of his life is his home, a Le Corbusier design he regards as a masterpiece of 20th Century style. Tightly-wound Leonardo is happy in his home until his next door neighbor Victor (Daniel Araoz) decides to make some changes to his place, putting in a massive picture window that allows him to stare right into Leonardo's living room. Victor just wants a bit more sun inside his house, but Leonardo doesn't appreciate having his grumpy-looking neighbor looking in all the time, and it leads to a quiet war of wills between the two homeowners, as Leonardo tries to find some way to deprive Victor of his window and Victor refuses to budge. El Hombre de al Lado (aka The Man Next Door) received its North American premiere at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

The seasoned producer-cum-director Marcelo Pavan helms the moody, deliberately-paced minimalist drama La Punta del Diablo (AKA Devil's Point, 2006). When confronted by the diagnosis of his own inoperable and malignant brain tumor, Argentine neurosurgeon Roberto discovers a heretofore non-existent spiritual connection with Lydia (Prakriti Maduro), one of his cancer patients. Face-to-face with his own transience, Roberto drops out of life, climbs into his car, and begins a lengthy, aimless drive, headed south, out of Buenos Aires. Spotting a woman, Maria (Romina Paula), (who closely resembles Lydia) driving ahead of him on the freeway, he impulsively tails her north, to the small fishing village in Uruguay, Punta del Diablo. Roberto beds down in a shack run by Franco, at which Maria is also residing, and discovers that the two are romantically involved. While Maria drifts away from Franco and toward Roberto - both feeling out and exploring deep-rooted but undeclared emotional connection with one another - Roberto glides deeper into a state of great emotional, psychological and spiritual uncertainty and instability. Meanwhile, the existence of the romantic triangle puts everyone on edge. Throughout the film, helmer Pavan relies heavily on Roberto's ethereal first-person narration and utilizes the rhapsodic "floating" cinematography of Rolo Pulpiero to depict a man drifting into a state of pure existence and introspection while assessing the overall meaning and significance of his life. ~ Nathan Southern, Rovi

This movie romp features the decolletage of the aging -- but still impressive -- Latin American actress Isabel Sarli. In it, she play a nurse who has received an inheritance from a patient who was as grateful for her sexiness as he was for her nursing. She is returning to her hometown to help an old friend, now the mayor, with a predicament involving vast quantities of pig droppings. She is an expert on droppings, as she has a huge collection of animals, which she brings with her, along with a retinue of bodybuilders and trans-gendered people. Her other reason for returning is purely personal. She means to get revenge on all the many people who mistreated her before she was able to get away from the town -- beginning with her family and continuing with a duplicitous minister -- and the dreadful girl's school she attended. ~ Clarke Fountain, Rovi
