This is an unexceptional story of an attempted hijacking of a Latin American plane bound for Madrid. As the drama winds its way through the passengers and crew of the ill-fated aircraft, several subplots spring up like weeds after a shower. There is a love triangle between the pilot, a flight attendant, and the co-pilot, a disgruntled couple is trying to patch up their marriage by going on a second honeymoon, one young woman is very pregnant, two chess players have their own agenda, and another adventurer-type seems to just be hanging out. Meanwhile, there are a few political refugees on the plane who eventually decide they really do not want to go to Madrid after all -- and the trouble starts. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, All Movie Guide

Schinderhannes is the legendary Robin Hood of Germany, a thief who did not focus on robbing from the rich but on defeating them, and battling Napoleon at the same time. This routine but dressed-up drama interprets his story. Popular German star Curt Juergens plays the title role with a certain amount of reserve and as in Robin Hood, he also has a Maid Marion, Julchen (Maria Schell). Schinderhannes' mission is to convert others to his cause, which introduces not only a humble shoemaker (Joseph Offenbach) and a blacksmith (Paul Esser), but also Carl von Cleve-Boost (Christian Wolff), an aristocratic nobleman who turns tail on his class and joins the rebels. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, All Movie Guide

In this drama, a brave young man tries to save an abused coal-yard dog. It was his teacher who suggested he save the cur. He is expelled from school and becomes involved with real criminals. He gets involved with a well-known fence and while at his apartment, meets a pretty orphan girl. The two are attracted and when he finds the fence trying to rape her, he intervenes. The girl flees and the fence is found murdered. Again the hapless youth is accused of the crime. Unfortunately, he cannot find the girl who could prove his innocence and he is imprisoned. The prison doctor believes him innocent and begins his own investigation. Sure enough he finds the real killer and coaxes the girl out of hiding. She then waits for the young man to serve a one-year sentence for robbery. ~ Sandra Brennan, All Movie Guide
Homosexuality is exploited to the tasteless hilt in the 1957 cheapie The Third Sex. The parents of Paul Dahlke can't understand why their son isn't interested in he-man activities. They soon discover that he's-argh! gasp!--gay. Even worse, he's hanging out with a KNOWN PERVERT!!!! There is nothing for it but to "straighten out" the boy, in as cold and brutal a manner as possible. This one must be seen to be believed. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

- Ingrid Stenn, Hans Nielsen, (more)
